That's only wind chill, -4 actual is cold. When I lived ND I found out the outside air temp sensor on the hyundai Santa Fe only went down to -33. Morning radio guy said it was -45 out, but the lowest the car ever went was -33. I'm a little curios to see how far down the 4runner goes but not enough to go back to ND.
At -40, it doesnt matter C or F as they are both -40 at-40.
It's not an optical illusion.
It just looks like one.....
That is really cold, I've only been in -49 actual, wind chill was -68 or something. We were worried about the fuel in the wings freezing, it gets colder the higher you go, and my old airplanes don't have fuel heaters in the wings

The first year I had my Passat, the exterior temp sensor went bad. It was middle of summer, temps were 110+, but the car thought it was -40 outside. So, the climate control system refused to turn on the AC because it figured that it was so cold outside.
Made for a miserable week until I could get it fixed.
