Agree that crack starts at the top, dont see how a impact could have made it without some other noticeable damage to the rudder.

I bought my truck from a dealer 40 miles away because the dealership only 10 miles away wouldn't come down on their price.
Guess what, local dealer gets all the warranty work, and they do it with a freakin' smile!

Entirely different biz. In the car biz, price sells the first car, service sells everyone after that. In a franchise dealer, service and bodyshop pay the bills. In other words, the dealer could not stay alive on car sales alone. As a Tech and also an assistant service manager I didnt give a crap where they bought the car. GM paid us about 90% of what our customer labor rate was, and parts made money on warranty parts as well. I will say though, if the service customer bought from us, they got scheduling preference over those that bought elsewhere.

In the boat biz, how may boat repair only operations are there as compared to those that are boat dealers also? A boat dealer would die a quick death if all he had were broke boats to fix under warranty that there purchased from other dealers that made the real money.

Having worked in both, there is in know way to compare the boat and auto biz in both sales and service.
