Yeah, you gotta have the surface clean. Kinda like trying to weld a rusted or painted surface, it wont take. No, the heatshrink only makes a moisture seal, the solder needs to hold the wires.
Yea, I thought I had it cleaned off but I scraped it with a knife some more and I didnt. I just dont want to call it good enough and have the wires bounce off while there behind the amps.
