3" high density upholstery foam, topped with 1.5" memory foam and 1/2" dacron on top of that. IT is a very comfortable seat!

That is basically an autopilot, called a tillerpilot in this instance. Holds a course, allows push-button correction and it auto tacks when beating upwind.

Hands free sailing to allow you to handle the lines with two hands, or go below to use the head, get refreshments, or whatever.
