Had a not so fun day at the lake yesterday... Well, had fun till it was time to go home. I was done surfing, and we were heading back. While heading back I was draining the sac. Can't really hear the pump while the engine is running. When we got close to show I looked to see how the sac was doing, and it hadn't drained at ALL!
My ballast puppy pump would fill but not drain. WTH?!?
Totally meant to bring the manual pump, but left it sitting on my work bench. Ended up pulling the boat out of the water, and draining the sac into the bilge.
When I get home, and hook water up to the intake for the ballast. The fill and drain aspect of the ballast puppy work as expected. WTH?!?!
My other pump(port side) actually sounds stronger than my starboard pump.
What are the chances I got a bad pump, and is there a warranty on these. This is only my 3rd time out, and the pump isn't even 3 months old.

These are simple DC motors. They rotate when B+ is applied to one side of the windings and GND is applied to the other. They reverse direction when the polarity is reversed.
If the motor runs in one direction and not the other, its a switch problem.
If it runs and fills but runs and doesnt drain, the impeller is not flipping.
In 4+ years, ive seen one motor failure and it was a cracked magnet during assembly and was DOA out of the box. Other then that, impellers are a maintenance, but should be good for a couple seasons.

I would also suggest rotating your pumps 180* so the motor is up and the pump head is down. This prevents water from wicking down into the motor and rusting it. There is a guy on WW with a 2011 Moomba with a dead pump. It was mounted from the factory motor down and froze up due to rust.
