OK, one other weird problem yesterday. My XS-12 sub only worked intermittantly. Stopping and restarting boat numerous times, and it would work occasionally, and then not work the next time. I checked all RCA connections, and sub wire connections at the amp. All seemed OK. I thought it may have been a signal problem, but it did the same thing with both iPod and Sirius signals.

I am running the sub off ch 5/6 on a Syn 6 amp. The 6 cabin speakers (ch 1-4) all worked fine. The tower (Syn 2 amp) worked fine. I do run a WS-420, and the problem was not due to having the sub level down on the EQ.

Any ideas? Not sure whether to look closer at the HU, the amp, the EQ, the wiring, or the sub itself.

Well, just realized that HU shouldn't matter, since the iPod was running through the 420. Everything else is potentially guilty, though.

dingle have you inspected the sub itself yet?

Try moving the sub to a different channel

Fuh - no I haven't. Didn't want to pull it out of its enclosure yet.

Zad- not sure how (sorry I'm pretty clueless on electrical/stereo wiring). I know the Syn6 is made to turn ch 5/6 into a mono sub signal by pushing a button, so it only has one signal wire (+/-) running to it.

either the sub itself is malfunctioning or the channels on your amp are malfunctioning, i think the only way to narrow it down it to inspect the sub and change the channels. swapping the channels arent hard, im not familiar with the syn6 but im betting you can make any two channels into a sub channel, at least on my DD 4 channel i can, chp will prolly chime in here soon

                          Dingle,

Is there anything in the compartments that could be bumping the cabling or amp switches?

Double-check your SYN 6 amp settings.
                          - XOVER set to Low Pass (pressed in)
                          - 12/24db set to 24db Mono (pressed in)

P-Dog, I'll have to look, but I'm pretty sure nothing was high enough in the compartment to bump it, and I think those were the settings.
