I think the biggest problem is when he promised to deliver health care to 50 million uninsured people without costing any money. Even the American people are not dumb enough to believe that. We are already wallowing in debt to try and recover the economy and he was trying to tell us it would not cost money to add health care for all to the list.
The phrase 'there is no free lunch' comes to mind.Be excellent to one another.

Guess I should have posted these in the other guys topic! LOL!
BTW - I don't support FREE healthcare but I do support pooling everyone who doesn't currently have its money together to buy it cheaper.

The NY times piece you place above is great reading. I do think there are many socialist facets to our nation already, and too many people overlook the good done. Interesting that the next article down states clearly that this recession is the result of capitalism gone awry. But she somehow doesn't stop to think why the American economy is the strongest economy in the world in the first place.
Sorry, I digress.
I think pooling won't work. Many of the uninsured are that way because they want to be. They are healthy, young and don't have enough medical problems to want health insurance. It is short sighted, but they see it as a risk they are willing to take. Then there are those who aren't poor enough for Medicaid, and need health care, but can't afford health insurance. The only way for a pool to work is if the people who currently aren't willing to pay for insurance now subsidize the people who are sick. If just the sick people pool together it wouldn't be any cheaper.
A mandate that all have health insurance would fix that issue to some degree, but I don't think most people want to be forced to buy anything. Then more people can seek medical care...what will that do to overall expenditures on health care?
We already have government run health care. Medicaid, Medicare and the VA system are approximately %60 of every health care dollar spent. Somehow very few people are pointing to those as ideals for the Obama administration.Be excellent to one another.

CNN had a fact check for SNL? Here is another music video. Can you guess who is walking in the first part before they show it later in the video? Oh no.
