theres somethin worng there, because i know you can boost the numbers higher than 1mpg...with more power comes more efficiency....other than at WOT, but the more powerful the more efficient it runs. just dont make sense lol. Every motors different, there are some weird factors that come into play. maybe he just got unlucky with that motor??
cause i know low 20's are possible.
My truck on the other hand is HIGHLY modified. Between the custom twin set, tranny, lift and 35's... well... it's not exactly something to pull a baseline off of. LOL.
I'm not saying you can't gain 2-3 mpg pick-up by straight piping, and tuning.... just don't be expecting 4-6. 2-3 is a massive gain anyways.

you can tell the punk kids that are pretending, and for the knowledge these guys have, they arent punk kids haha. dont make me sick all of the 6.4 guys on powerstroke.org on this thread haha!!! ill see if i can dig something up. from what ive read in the past 10 minutes, 16-17 is pretty common. if you really keep your foot out of these trucks, they will get some good milage. averages ive seen, in town stop and go, about 14.
ill try and dig something up hahaJoey - Red 20V Riders Edition

I can't believe I just now found this thread. I personally am starting to save for the 6.7. It really sounds like it is going to be a good engine.
I have done the Spartan tuner and DPF delete on a friends 6.4 and he got about a 3 MPG gain.
I love my 2002 7.3. I can get about 18 MPG on it and about 13 MPG when towing. I have a 4" turbo back exhaust, DP-Tuner, Airaid intake, and a larger compressor housing to get rid of the turbo surge I was having. I am pretty much sticking with those mods.

I would have to disagree w/ this. There are TONS of BB turbo's running around in diesel trucks that you hear nothing about. The key is street aps... not race aps. Rebuilding is usually NOT an option either.
I think the reason you hear more about BB turbo's failing is usually it's on Race motors, that are pushing things VERY hard. Usually the race guys are looking for every possible edge and well.... they are pushing things to the limits. Going to a BB vs. a journal does offer a bit quicker spool up time, thus most race teams run them.
My small turbo on my twins is a Garrett BB.... and I've had no problems w/ 40K on this turbo set up so far.
That being said... opinions are like A-holes. Soooo, River Runner could be dead on, but you'll get as many gear heads to agree w/ him as you will me.Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.
