my 07 4x4 duramax stock is getting 13.5mpg, started at about 15 when she was new, 50K miles into it and it looks like it has leveled out at 13.5

I love it though, it'll pull and pull and pull some more

Im waiting on the Boss 6.2L(425hp/425lb.ft) gasser.

Its all I would ever need...without the 10K upgrade for the diesel.

my 07.5 is still in the 14 range city, highway is down to 18.5 after I put 285's on it. My highway mileage is all at 75-80 (75 mph speed limit on my commute) though which brings it down at least 1 mpg in my experience. Still better than my 5.3 Avalanche.

My buddy did a dpf delete on his 6.4L Ford and he's UP to 14 city now! Before that he couldn't get better than 12-13 on a good day.

I am still kicking the dpf delete/egr block around but I'm not sure I want to screw around with voiding the warranty. The truck runs great.

nope i can show you trucks running those numbers and they are 6.4's. most of the time im on powerstroke.org its a big diesel forum. the dpf kills all these new motors.

with tuners and stuff, you guys should be pushin way more than 13-14mpg... loose the dPF haha and get some tunings and exhaust. just need to let them breathe!

Are you personally running the 6.4? The only reason I ask is because I read "stories" about people getting into the 20's but then it's always a stretch and it was one tank and this and that. 19-20, 21 maybe, I believe but anything more than that on a crew-cab 4x4 I call total BS without crazy tuning and modifications. I saw the issue of diesel power (I think that's the name) where they did the shootout and it was pretty interesting what all had to be done.

nah there are alot of guys that can get consistent low 20's], high 20's is pushing it i agree.

im not but i cant imagine every redneck on powerstroke.org is lieing haha, maybe about their HP #'s but not milage. I cant wait to see what the tuners come up with for the 6.7!!!!! gonna be rediculous!

Any claim on the 6.4 significantly higher than 14 is usually just that.... a claim. Or not hand calc'd and the DIC is way off in alot of cases.

Me and my father both drive around 100 miles a day, w/ a mix of highway and stop and go driving.

He bought one of the first 100 6.4's in the country. Even got a nice random check in the mail one day from ford for being so. That truck couldn't get above 11 to save it's soul. The next 08 had the bigger air dam on it which increased the mileage up to 13. His newest 09' hasn't broke into the 14 barrier either. Always around 13.7. A 2010 will be here in January, but I have a feeling it will be the same.

I'll leave my max's mileage out of it... b/c well... it's just not fair

I agree, this 6.7 on paper looks to be pretty bad azz! I like the newer SD's, almost bought one but it seriously came down to them not being able to find a black truck with the options that I wanted. I'm happy with my purchase and have no regrets picking the Chevy over the Ford.

with a good tune, a DPF delete kit, 4" straight pipe exhaust, and intake. low 20's is easy. no claim, the motor works soooo much better once it can breath!

That's already done on the trucks I mentioned above. Almost nothing! Same results on other friend's. He's not doing it on the new truck in January b/c it was a waste, in everything but the power dept.

In all honesty though, I only gained a little over 1 mpg when doing the above.

I've read in automotive news that this motor is insane. The article said that is so quite that unless someone told you it was a diesel you would never know it.

Still think the duro is the best diesel out there, the new ones are pretty quite but I don't need someone to inform me that it is a diesel.

                            Very malibuish! I like! LOL.

I can't see how it can get much quieter than the 6.4... but that'll be pretty damn impressive!

Yup...it even has a checklist for towing. Either conventional, goose-neck, or 5th wheel.

haha idk if id like it that quite!!! I love how loud my truck is
theres somethin worng there, because i know you can boost the numbers higher than 1mpg...with more power comes more efficiency....other than at WOT, but the more powerful the more efficient it runs. just dont make sense lol. Every motors different, there are some weird factors that come into play. maybe he just got unlucky with that motor??
cause i know low 20's are possible.
