New 21V Owner... Lots of Questions

Hello everyone. I posted a while back about a 21v I had found locally. Well it was in terrible condition, so I found another one that was pretty nice. Its a 99 that I picked up Friday, and have enjoyed it this weekend. Unfortunately, the previous owners have had their way with the wiring, and there is cut wires/old wires laying everywhere. I need to do some cleaning on the wiring. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this boat? I noticed a diagram for a new boat on the forum here, but not sure if its close enough that I can use.

    Here are the questions.

Does anyone have pictures of a sub install under the dash that you have used sub boxes? I currently have a 15" JL in there but its free air and sounds horrible. I want to go with 2 10s in that panel with a sealed box. It looks like that panel is glassed to the boat, or has been since it was bought. I thought about cutting the panel out and leaving an inch or so around the outside to mount a new removable panel in there so I can get to the amps easily if I need to adjust them.

Number 2, I have a hot/cold shower, but its beyond messed up. How does this shower setup operate? Is there a pump or does it use the engine water pump to move water? There are hoses everywhere in the engine compartment and I havent had a chance to chase all the hoses down, just getting an idea of what I need to look for. Also, the heater was out of the boat when I picked it up, and the hoses were blocked off. Where should this heater mount? It appears to be somewhere under the storage compartment on the pass side. The wiring is messed up on that also!

I also have some panels that are not screwed into place, but I will have to get pics of those. The weather is bad today and the boat is covered up so I wont get those until later.

Also I need a pic of where the radio is mounted on the drivers side. Mine has some sort of aluminum plate that looks like it has been made to work. I would like to see the original design if possible.

Hope you all can help me out, and thanks in advance!

    Congrats!

Sounds like your boat had either been redone, as far as the stereo goes, or was ordered w/o and it was dealer done, JL15 is not standard as is not suited for a "free air" setup.

My A properly powered 15" in the proper enclosure will serve you better then two 10's in one enclosure (really 2 cause you want to separate them internally. Space wise, it could be hard to get a box large enough for two 10's, just a thought.

Pics would help a lot. It sounds line the H/U may have been mounted in a marine radio housing that is long gone and replaced with a fab'd plate.

If the heater was removed and hoses plugged, sounds like the core has busted. I'm guessing the hose are disconnected and blocked at the engine? You will probably find the other ends under the drivers helms area. Wiring for the heater should be easy: Ground for the motor, fused battery + to the switch, and a power from the switch to the other wire on motor.

    Shower works with engine running.

Yea, the heater core was busted, but the previous owner had a brand new one to go in the boat. The lines are connected to the engine but plugged under the seats. The radio is in a marine enclosure but there is an aluminum plate behind it. It looks like it has been made in someones garage. I will get pics here soon.

I will test out the shower with the engine running, not sure I want to keep it though, just seems like something to leak and cause problems on the lake.

What about the shifter? Mine has some play in it, and I cant figure out how to access the cables to adjust it. There are some panels around the shifter but they all have nuts that tighten on the backside of the fiberglass. Not real sure how they managed to tighten them to be honest.

Why do you suggest the 15 inch sub? Just curious.

Here are the pics of the stereo setup. Ugh!

If anyone can get me a part number on the correct faceplate I would appreciate it. Also, has anyone searched for the gauge cluster faceplate? Mine has a few cracks in it and I was thinking about replacing it.

          Thanks!

          Quite a rig, ya think?

Post up some dimensions of that opening, I've seen that OEM stereo housing like MRM has posted,I just need to find it again and who makes it. That looks like a great opportunity to build a nice 1.5 DIN plate for a new H/U and WetSounds ws-420 EQ/Mic

What kind of ideas are you thinking of making the backing plate out of? This is currently aluminum. The 420 install sounds good to me, I was planning on purchasing one anyways. Let me know what you are thinking if you dont mind.

              Thanks!

You can get ABS plastic sheets in a range of colors, sizes and thicknesses. Cut it to fit the opening in the dash, as the original housing did, and then cut out the center to fit a std stereo and ws-420.

I love it! Where would I find ABS? what do you cut it with? A bandsaw or something? I have installed a few stereos in my time but nothing this custom. If you dont care to get me on the right track i would appreciate it.

I can get it through a couple of distributors that I buy from. If you cant find any, let me know.

Band saw or variable speed jig saw works fine.

Check this thread for the adapter plate that will allow you to install a regular Marine H/U in it: http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/show...hlight=clarion

Did they remove the stereo from your boat?

I have the same boat as you and ordered it new.

It has a JVC unit in there now but I removed it to take pictures and to swap out with a Pioneer that I have. I am thinking of going the route of the ABS plastic with the HU/WS420 combo. That will work out nice.

I have been doing some research, and found the wiring diagram from Tige for the 21V. Also found out they can possibly get me some new dash parts to replace some of mine that are broken. If I can get the dash straightened out the rest will be pretty easy. I will probably get some vinyl work done this fall.

Thanks for the info on the head unit.

Can you post or email the wiring diagram? I would like to have it for reference, just in case
