    Malibu's Idea......

I really like Malibu's idea of the plastic tray that is installed above the engine that is removable, it is also installed in the direct drives of the xti series. It uses unused space.

I was wondering if anyone has any idea's for putting one in a Tigé. It does not have to be a malibu tray cuase it may not fit width wise. I wonder if there is anything else to use?

It is a great idea especially on the Z1 for sure cuz when the rear lids are opened to get to the storage areas the engine is completely exposed... MAJOR hazzard and eye sore to look at.

      This is a great idea
I was thinking the same thing.
I was going to messure the opening on my 08 RZ2 and get a plexi-glass like material to lay in there that will be thick enough to support some stuff. Lexan (sp) can be formed on break presses. So this makes it easy to form up the sides to provide depth to the tray. The only problem with plexi/lexan is it is clear so you still see the engine.

It could also warm up the jackets for us northern climate riders.

I'm surprised we haven't seen that change yet on the Z1, either add a tray or go to 3 doors. Tray would be cheap and easy......Listen up Tige

What would you put in this tray? You can't put anything with removable or loose pieces as they may get down into the engine...

possibly keep towels in it, the engine would keep them warm, other than that........

How deep would that tray hang down? I don't think there is a ton of depth from the lip to the engine. Like the idea of keeping items in it to keep warm.

Actually, Tige had these in their '02 model year lineup for the 21v. it wasn't plastic, but carpeted. It had cargo netting so stuff wouldn't fly around. I'll try and post a pic of my friends' boats with this feature. It sat directly on top of the removable panels on either side of the engine.

I would like the tray, I think it would be very useful.

The engine hatch would prevent this when it was closed.

More storage, I would put anything in it that would fit!

I don't think it could be as deep and as long as that other brands for the RZ.

They call it the "pizza tray" with the newer motors its not as deep.the O2 sensors hit it. they had a few leave the factory with the wrong tray and it broke the sensors off when people put stuff in the tray..Its a pretty neat thing most people keep their lines in it and a few with the deep ones keep vest in there.the one cheap has a pic of looks like the deep one to me the shallow one is about half that deep.

In one of the brochures from like 07', I remember them showing a girl getting a box of pizza out of the tray on an XTI. LOL.

I could see putting binding lube, rope, gloves, lotion, etc. in there if you didn't have the back "activity area" like on the Z1.
