    Front seat struts???

Has anybody with a 22/24v put gas assist struts on the front seats of their boat? I was thinking of doing it as I have to order struts for my rear hatches and was thinking it would be nice to hold open the front seats if possible. I am sure I could do some guesswork and measuring but if someone knows exactly what parts and strut length/pressure is needed that would be great.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

It seems like Dogbert or Chpthrill had done this. I can't find the thread though, sorry. Try posting this in the general discussion and they'd for sure read it.

I have the struts to do mine but I keep forgetting to order the mounting hardware for them. Holding them up is such a PITA!!
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Yeah it is. I actually stopped by and looked at a new 22ve and got the part numbers off the brackets and struts. I might e-mail them to see if they went with a heavier pressure rating since the v seats are longer and heavier than the ve seats. Thanks!

This may sound dumb but why not check out your local car parts store? I bet you there basically the same, and the one advantage is you can try/measure up a few different length and sizes to see which will work best. Also I would think the price is a heck of alot cheaper than from a boat dealer

I have purchased replacement struts from my auto parts store for my back hatches, and they work well ($20 or so). Question on this project = where is the best place to attach the mounting brackets? And at what angle?

Just starting to snow....if you can hang tight until the morning, I can take some close-up pics of both sides, top and bottom to how there mounted. Even a few with a rule to help determine length. My boat is an 06 24V though.

I think mounting to the seat would be easy. It is the mounting to the fiberglass lip of the hull that worries me. Not sure if the little lip is strong enough to hold the pressure from the strut. Up close pics with model numbers for the struts would be great help.

BTW - temp is 90 degrees here in Tx!!!

03 22v and have been wanting to do this as well, I am sure you could through bolt the fiberglass and even add a small backer if needed to spread out the load.

                        2.

Cant say for sure if the strut you find has this type of bolt but is so, this project should be a breeze.

For reference this bolt is called a Pivot Bolt.

I took a 20 x30 tarp last night and put it over the whole boat. Snow was super heavy and lots of it. I was concerned about my new tarp stretching.
