    top speed

Just put my new to me 2005 22v With a 340 Marine power motor in the water for the first time. Couple of questions-- when doing a top speed run i noticed the tach would get up to 5000 but if i left taps at wakeboard setting i would get alot of purposing, if i trimmed it between slalom and wakeboard i would get about 43MPH tops is that about normal.

    doug

seemed a little thrashy at top speed felt some vibration and i just had the prop redone.

The top speed sounds about normal, what prop are you running? The porpoising is normal with TAPS up (wakeboard mode), kinda like trimming up an I/O.

Mike i am running a 537 and the guy who just repaired it claims he balanced it, seemed to be alot of vibration in running it to the top end. Based on the condition of the prop when i purchased it, i might drop the boat off at a tige dealership and have them give it a look over. I am planning on installing the amp you sent me this week.

      thanks,

If you dinged the prop, there's always a chance you knocked the shaft out of alignment, or worse, bent it. Even a slight bend will cause vibration.

          thanks,
I haven't heard of anyone having a lot of luck getting an ACME fixed except by a couple of approved shops. The CNC'd props just dont seem to like being repaired the same way a std prop does. Our dealer was hiving them fixed local, the ones I saw looked like @$$ when they were done, and I drove one after it was back in and it sucked.

Let me know how the amp install goes!

Mike what prop manufacturer to you recommend , i might use the repaired one as a backup and purchase a new one, if that fixes the vibration i will be set, if not off to the dealer, is replacing the steering cable a fairly easy fix?

            thanks

ACME is the best and the 537 is a great prop choice for your boat.

May still be worth have the rest of the running gear checked - prop shaft run-out, rudder alignment, etc.

Here's a how to on How to replace a steering cable, but that won't fix your vibration, just make it easier to steer.
