2300V - Black Scorpion or MAG Ski?

    Greetings,

I recently purchased a repo-d 2001 2300V with 56 hours. It was listed to have a 330HP Black Scorpion motor but I'm not sure. I believe it may in fact be the standard Merc MPI MAG Ski (315 HP I believe).

    Are there distinguishing features?

Also, anyone have any recommendations on a boat cover for one with a tower?

You can order the boat cover through a Tige dealer or from a company like Westland or Rankin. Westland has standard cutouts for most Tige boats with a stock tower.

The Scorpion motor should have that written on the cover of the air filter. I've got the 314 Ski Mag and that's what it says on mine.

Yeah, the bumped the HP up to 330 in '99, but I couldn't see spending the extra $8K for the upgrade...only 15 horses...the 315's plenty.

Ok, no Scorpion on the intake so a MAG MPI as I thought.

Any one had any experience with the Westland or Rankin tower covers?

I thought I read 330hp on mine or in the book somewhere...hmmm something to look up when I get back. Mine has a Black Scorpion logo and it says it as well I believe.

I bought mine new in June of 97 and I thought that it changed hp. in 98 but could be wrong about that. I was told once that the only dif was where they measured the hp. from. 315 at the end of the trans. and 330 from the back of the eng.

Can someone tell me about versions? When I search on custom covers, some sites show a 2300V Rider's Edition? What options would that particular model have?

Sorry, I don't know crap about the history of my boat.

Ok, first off, post a pic of your boat and it will be a lot easier for us.

To answer your question about the custom cover, the Riders Edition came standard with a tower. However, you could get the same tower on the other trim levels as well. The only difference between them were trim levels and options such as vinyl, dash, etc. Otherwise, it's the same boat. Nothing that would affect how the cover fit.

Definitely not the Black Scorpion. Looks very clean though nice. I spy Perfect Pass too.

                        Perfect pass?

Once again, I apologize if I'm ignorant but I'm learning. I literally bought this boat on Sat as a bank repo. Paid $17,000 with 56 hours on it. Cleaned it for 3 days in order to get into condition of photos.

                          Basically a cruise control.
Part of it is the stepping motor hooked to the throttle linkage in the pic (right front of engine).
There's a computer under the dash and a 3.5" or 5" display on the dash.
Probably has a paddle wheel sensor sticking thru the bottom of the hull unless it has the GPS upgrade kit.
Best option you can have on a boat.

Yes, I did see the speed pass module under the dash. Don't know about GPS at this moment but I certainly spotted a sensor through the hull near the prop.

Did all our boats come from the factory with all the massive array of switches below the throttle? 12 total black push buttons directly below the speed dial (ACC 2, ACC 1, heater, Taps, etc). Several of them don't appear to be functional.

Does anyone happen to have a 2300V owner's manual that I can get eletronically? Help me avoid all these annoying questions and figure out some of the options & operation.

Tige emailed me this link to older manuals:
