Has anyone used a barefoot boom on a 22Ve and if so what kind? I am thinking about getting one for teaching kids and adults to ski or wakeboard or barefoot... what do you think?
thanks
I have the BFI tower boom on our 08 22ve and have had no issues. A tower style boom is probably your only option on a v-drive unless you custom ordered an extended beefy pylon on your boat to install a contour style boom. The contour booms are made for the STD inboard w/ a regular pylon.
The only thing you want to watch are the small allen set screws @ the base of the towers depending on which one you have. Ours start to back out a little after a full day of footing.
You can go to Lane Bowers site "the Footer Edge" and he has an area to fill in your boat info and they tell you which of the BFI booms will fit your boat.
Do you have a z tower? and if so... how does it mount? do you have any pics on how it mounts? thanks that is good to hear that you have enjoyed yours...
Call Dom at Fortes 888-517-3178, he is my dealer and has installed booms on v-drives with towers. He also is involved with a ski team and has a lot of experience.

Sorry I just checked and do not have any pics that really show the boom.
See mtnsmith & corey's notes. I purchased our boat and boom from Forte's as well.
I agree w/ corey it is a little bit of a pain the 1st time but once the brackets are in place it is not to bad.
I am a big believer in the BI booms I have had several different ones over the years w/ no issues what so ever.
My next purchase form them will be the Super Fly High
I don't know how many manufacturers are offering this, but I did see a cool feature on MC's new crossover. It has a removable center pylong that stows under the wrap around seating on the passenger side. This seems like a great idea to me. Not tooting MC's horn, just thought this feature was relevant to this particular thread. If this became standard on v-drives, the boom problem would go out the window.
Does anyone know the size of the tige z tower poles... are they 2 3/8" or larger than that?
The main bars are right at 3", the front cross bar is 2.5 (actually slightly less but same as the E series.

Be careful with the tower mounts. I called Monster and they told me that using a tower mounted boom would void my warranty. You may have to go with the pylon mount.
