    Which Tige should I buy?

    Hi all,

So I am torn between an 2002 Tige 23v or an 2003 Tige 22v. I know the 23v has spray pockets and the 22v doesn't, but which would throw a better wave for surfing? They are both 102 beam and I could fill the pockets in at some point. I have actually never ridden behind a 23v or a 24v. I like the idea of extra room and storage, and it seems everyone loves the bigger boats for surfing. Where is the cooler located on the 23v? Locally they are about the same price.

Does one have a better tower, maybe the metcraft has already been replaced or repaired? How many engine hours on each one? Maintenance records, was one better maintained? Other than that I've heard they are a very similar ride. I believe the 22v has more convex than the 23v, but the 23 is heavier and a little longer. Let us know which you get.

IMO, the 23V would probably be easier to dial in a surf wake. Surfdad (a member on this thread) has the same boat and has already dialed his in and all you would have to do is ask him how he has his set up.

I bet you do but it's not a good deal anymore after what the value of that boat is now on NADA.

I think surfdad def has to weigh in on that one, especially re the spray pockets.

Since I own a 23V, I will weigh in. It is a great boat and I personally love the extra foot and a half in length. We do a lot of big lakes and the ride is awesome in rough water. We also have a lot of gear and usually take friends, so the additional storage space comes in very handy. The cooler is right behind the driver.

I still ski, so I love the spray pockets to narrow the wake. The spray pockets can create a little curl on the wake. I have wakeboarded and surfed behind many boats without the spray pockets and the little curl at the top doesn't bother me a bit. Talltigeguy used to have the spray pockets as well and a boat without. He didn't seem to mind them.

If you boat on large lakes, have a large crew when you're out, like to waterski, then I would go for the 23V.

If you have a smaller family and/or don't go out with a lot of people, and all you do is wakeboard and surf, then go for the 22V

Here is the surf wake for the 23V:

Here is the waterski wake for the 23V:

Here is the wakeboard wake where you can see the little curl:

Negotiate a better price on the 23V and put on a new tower and stereo systeem, I put on an Xplosion Tower and 2 Wet Sounds 485s .

How much weight are you running? Do you have any other pics of the wave? That tower looks great! Thanks for all the input. This seems to be a tough decision.

Also, surfdad commented on another site. His vote is to get a 22v, but I might try to find a deal on a 23v and fill the spray pockets. Sounds like a fun project. To many decisions

I have around 1000 lbs in the back locker and about 600 up front. I'll look for some other pics, are you interested in surf wake pics?

Here is one on the regular side in only about 8 feet of water.

Man that was a great day!!!
I have a 24V and Moki's wave is the best surf wave I have been on with out having 2000# in the boat.

                          23V would get my vote.
My dad always said "Stupid Hurts". He's yet to be proven wrong, but for some reason I keep trying.

What tower on the 02? i agree with moki about the tower for sure.
                              What motor in the 02?
                              What motor in the 03?
I looked for a 23 i love the daul bucket seats but they were hard to find and im not a real big fan of mercruiser engines (personal preference). i really found myself leaning toward the 03 22v with the Marine Power engine.

IM not real big into the surfing but have seen both boats produce very impressive surf waves so i dont know if one is really better than the other.but either way you will end up with a great boat. so let us see what you end up with.
