Is anyone having porpoising issues and wake issues with a Z1. I have run without ballast and the boat will start porpoising. I have added ballast with a bow bag full, v-drive bags full and a full tank of gas it will run great until I use 1/4 tank of gas then starts porpoising. when I get to half a tank gets even worse, I have added more ballast to see if that helped with a 750 pds in the floor at different places. We even tried with 1000 pds in the bow! I just wanted to see if anyone else is having any problems. Thanks

I don't experience any porpoising at all on my boat ... wait I don't own a RZ1 and neither does any one who has responded. I think evltoymn needs some apples to apples comparisons here. But I can say that I have owned and RZ4, and the porpoising was horrible while in the 20's. I am almost certain that the RZ's have more convex than the Ve and V and this is one of reasons for the porpoising and the side to side weight sensitivity.

Hey guys, there was in fact an issue with early build Z1's porpoising. We went through this when selling the black and grey photo boat. There is a relativley easy fix that the factory recommends. I would be more than happy to speak on the phone with anyone that is having this problem....

I had the very same issue. My dealer had Justin from Tige here and they came and picked up my boat and changed the Taps plate angles. By doing so it had negative effects on my surf wake. So we added 880# of ballast to the back and 400# of lead to the front and now the wake is better than ever, for both wakeboarding and surfing. Now I run at 22mph and Taps @ anywhere up to 6.5 and have no problem. Talk to the dealer because Tige is aware of the problem.schmeldon

I have a Z1 and the PVC inside the RAM on early model Z1 had to be adjusted to reduce the porpoising at higher speeds. Even today, my Z1 requires the TAPs to be at 8 at higher speeds running across the lake. At 10 MPH for wake surfing and 20 MPH for wake boarding I do not experience porpoising. Wake surfing TAPs at 5-8 and wake boarding TAPs at 4-5. I use no ballast and would like to know if adding ballast to the bow or stern increases the wake for boarding or surfing. I would like to get more distance to wake surf behind the boat between the swim platform and tip of the board. Currently I only get about 2 feet of play room. Any advice?Nick
