Sorry to hear about the break-in to your boat. I am sure your boat came from us at Hyperactive Watersports and we do have steering cables in stock. We could change it right away as this time of year our service shop is not too busy with everyone out using their Tiges. If it were my boat I would consider giving the syringe and lube/anti-freeze injection a try first. We change cables on relatively new boats all the time, I think because our summer is so short here and they sit un-used for so much time. In your case, a couple of weeks submerged in a full bilge has likely siezed it pretty good. Maybe we should look at the anti-freeze injection as part of our winterization process (cause changing those cable is just not the kind of work our service guys love).

Let us know if we can help.

Yes, we bought from Hyperactive Watersports in Calgary. The boat is not here, however on the longweekend I will be trying the anti-freeze method first. Hopefully we can get the weekend in before hauling it back to Calgary. I will always take the plug out from now on. I will give the shop a call on a price for a new cable.

I have a 2004 24V with the same problem. How much will the dealers charge to replace the steering cable?

        It should be under $300.

$200 cdn for a new cable. Tried the antifreeze method, loosened it up by 50%.
Enough to get the weekend in. I will replace the cable over the winter months. Thanks to everyone for their input.

The coolant will allow the cable to loosen up more over time. It takes along time for it to get all the way through. I dont know how bad your cable was to start with, but I know mine took to hands to turn over and my arms were very sore after use. Then out on one ride and one power turn later the cable just loosened up like someone flicked a switch. The part of the cable that was binding must have soaked and lubed. Have not had a problem since in 200 hours and 2 seasons (about 4 months of use, 20 months of storage). Just keep adding the engine coolant and you will see good results.

            Glad your weekend was salvageable.
