    Taps Plate stuck

This past weekend my taps plate is stuck at the 1 position. I can not figure out why.

    Heres the history:
-Taps guage has been broken for two summers (Dealer finally had one shipped to my house even though this guage was supposed to be fixed when I purchased)
-Replaced taps guage and found out that the one sent was a 4 post TAPS 2 not the 3 Post Faria that I have. So I put the old taps back in just to fill the hole.
    - Blew fuse accidently during install
    -Replaced fuse
-Everything worked fine except taps guage after reinstall
-After an hours use the taps plate would not move and is at a fixed latitude.
-during same time a wierd noise is coming over the stereo when the key is in the on position (not the auxillery position and it does not matter if the boat is running or not)
-Discovered noise to be coming from taps guage and was amplified through the stereo.
-Disconected orange wire on back of taps to stop noise
    -Taps plate still not working
-Not sure why this noise just appeared and malfunction of taps plate at same time.
    -Breaker is not affected

So what do I do? Where do I look? Even when I turn the key off it is staying at the down position.

Could be a ground loop, I had a similar problem.

What Zad is trying to say is that when you lose a ground or (negative) in this case... (grounding is related to building power) the taps pump tries to find a way back to the source(battery). Therefor it could be trying to find a way through any of the wiring in the boat. Assuming that is the problem you will have to troubleshoot alot of wires inside the boat. Since the circuit for the pump goes through the gauge this could be a cause. To start troubleshooting I would run 12v to the Taps pump to see if it works then go to the gauge. You may just have something wired wrong. If you aren't familiar with electrical circuitry this may be tough and I would not recommend it because you could make the problem worse.

When I had the problem, the blower taps and taps both made noise through the stereo.

The dealer told me to run a wire from the amp ground to a place on the HU

Zad, I don't know your particular situation but running a wire would probably "complete" the circuit and fix the problem. He needs to identify the problem first.

I reconnected the guage the same way I found it. The wires were all labelled as it looks like the dealer has had it in and out a few times. Not sure why it would just start doing this.

How do I get 12 volts to the Taps motor? Any one know the exact power wire? I thought the taps was hydraulic but apparently it is not. So the wires go from the motor outside the boat then run up to the box under the dash, then run to the taps switch back to box, box runs to breaker, box runs to taps guage then line going back to box. If I disconnect the remote wire from the wire to the guage the noise goes away. However this does not fix the taps plate which is my real problem. I hook up the remote (orange wire) and the guage starts buzzing which runs back to the amp.

The orange wire is the signal wire that turns the taps system on. Mine was not attatched to the taps guage, it was attatched to the fuel guage, if i remember correctly.

Is the noise coming from the guage itself?

The black wire from the box should lead to the wires that run to the lenco motor

Yes, the guage is making the noise but amplified by the amplifier.

Have you tried bypassing everything and running power directly to the TAPS motor to see if maybe it froze up? Note that I have no idea how its wired or how it communicates ts position to the gauge.

There will be coming out of your black box a black with red trace wire , and white with red trace, those are the motor wires you can jump a power and ground to them and make the motor run if it is good, by reversing the power and ground it will make the motor go up or down. There will be a red wire with fuse power, a black wire ground, orange wire goes to a key power source to tell box key is on, yellow wire to guage, and blue, green and white to control switch. If you have any questions you can call me at 1 888 517 3178.
