    2002 TIge 21v

Anyone know why the 2002 tige 21v riders edition weighs so much more than everything else, 4,050 pds. Thats more than a 24v the following year. Was a different construction technique used??

First- The weights are approximate for any year.
Second- Tige was honest with how heavy their boats were when others weren't-
Finally- the build quality is outstanding and very very heavy- Which is a great thing for a boarding boat.

    Why does it matter?

When did Tige switch from wood stringers to fiberglass?
Would that account for some of the difference?

My 20v with a full tank of gas --and beer -- with trailer weighs a little over 4100# per the nursery/greenhouse scale.

I was curious, so I weighed it for 5$.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

The 24v weighs more than 4050. The 22v got lighter because they changed the hull.

            heavy weight

What is odd is the 2001 21v weighs 300lbs less and the 03 22v weighs 300lbs less. I was wondering if that year was special for some reason, merely just curiosity.

the '99-'02 21v line is built like a tank. I think they realized they didn't need to go overboard in the subsequent designs.

the 22v was essentially the 21v with the spray pockets filled in.

It could be a typo I was looking at the info on 20 V's and it shows in '06 the beam is 94" but all the other years it's 96"

I think you're right. An '02 21v should be the same weight, give or take with options, as a '99. So, right around 3500 lbs. That's dry weight. Add gas and stuff and you're definitely up over 4K.

in 2003 they went composite so i think the 22V is lighter because the wood was heavier. My 2001 21V is definitely 4,000 lbs. It is a biatch to tow!~

If your boat is hard to pull, it is because your trailer is a piece. A boxed in Dorsey or Boatmate will pull like a Champ all day long for years and years. Alot of dealers try to pawn off a cheaper trailer (ie. channel iron) to help the look of the retail price of the boat. Lesson: If your are going to tow your boat on a normal basis, don't skimp on the trailer. For an extra grand, buy a tandem, boxed in steel trailer from a reputable manufacturer (Dorsey, Boatmate, Extreme).

Do you know anything about trailers. I have a prestige trailer which if you research at is one of the best trailer you can buy. If you by anything over 18' has to have a tandam. The whole thing about boxed in means nothing when it comes to the the way it pulls has every thing to do with the strength. Also what trailer is not boxed in??? My boat also weights in at about 3200 # with out gas. So you fill it up you talking about 4000 with out cool or any of gear. So for a 21 foot that is a lot of weight.

SAMW, yes I do know alittle about trailers and boats. I also know alittle bit about towing boats(with GOOD trailers, and without good trailers). Boxed in has alot to do with it. Customers that have channel iron trailers NEVER, I repeat, NEVER tow as well as a boxed in trailer. Argue if you want, but that is all I have to say about that. I'll sell the boats and trailers, you stick to the Video Teching. I don't mean to sound like an A_ _, but to insult a man's intellegence or experience will get you that type of response more times that not....

Yes, the 21v is a heavy boat, but the difference between 3200# and 4000# on top of a well built, well balanced, tandem trailer is negligible. Good luck.
