    Speedset/Spedometer Failure

Hi all. I have an 08 RZ4. The paddlewheel for the speedset/spedometer has failed three times in the 21 running hours I have owned it. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue and what Tige did to resolve it. Any help would be great as I am already sick of taking it in to replace the paddlewheel and have it fail shortly after getting it in the water.

    Thanks

I haven't had that issue on the 24Ve or the RZ2 that I own. Check your bunks on the trailer to see if they are breaking it. Also, how much debris is in the body of water that you are boarding on?

Is it hitting the bunks, on the trailer, when either loading or unloading the boat?

Sounds like an improperly adjusted set of bunks on either your trailer of lift.

I had this problem on my 08 Z1. Apparently there are a few 08 boats out there that are frying the paddlewheel and/or speedset. The solution that has worked so far (only 5 hours since the fix) was to change out the ECM. Get your dealer to talk to Tige... they are aware of this problem in the 08s.

Thank you, if the ECM is the black box under the dash they already replaced it and it has failed since. Hopefully this will not be a long term problem for me.

              Hi Ken,

Your problems are exactly the same as I've had with my Z1. I don't know if the ECM is under the dash or not, but my dealer told me they changed the "brains" of the engine and checked over the wiring harness to ensure there were no shorts or bad grounds (supposedly, no wiring faults found). He figured it maybe had something to do with the interface between the GM cruise control and the Tige speedset/speed sensing system. Fingers crossed, but changing the computer seems to have solved the problem on my boat.

Good luck. PM me if you want to discuss further.
