20V engine cover problem

I have a 2007 20V. It's a great boat, although we've had an issue with the Engine cover blowing off while we're pulling the boat. I'm talking about the middle cover of the 3 covers at the rear of the boat

I've even tried tying the cover down, it still blow off when we're driving.

I have a friend with a 2006 that ran into this issue as well. Curious if anyone else has had similar issues.

There should be a strap or latch that needs to be engaged to keep the engine cover from going up.

Dog hit that one. That latch needs to be firmly in place. I have never had that issue nor have I heard of it being an issue. But that doesn't say there isn't an issue.

If your latch strap/handle/pull thing folds under so it goes between the catch and the latch it will not hold it down. Make sure your handle is sticking out over the deck lid and your latch catches securely, then the only way to open that hatch is to pull the handle and unlatch the catch.

depending on when you got your boat, take it to the dealership, WARRANTY!!! the latch should lock, push hard. mine blew up once on the freeway, and the brackets that held it to the body bent and it was all messed up after that, you need new brackets and then it should line up straight and lock!

Ive never had mine flip up. Ive always been concerned about it flying up tho so I always make sure its locked.

How fast were you going when it flipped up? I would think if I was going anything close to highway speeds that it would rip the cover completely off

I was doing a search to see if this has been discussed before.

I have a 2000 2100V and am missing the bracket that the engine cover latch engages. Does anyone have a picture or a part number of this so that I can either try to order one or fabricate one myself.
