    22V RE Prop Change

    Hey guys,
Can anyone tell me what type of performance issues I may see with my prop change I just made. I switched from the ACME #381 13.5X17.5 V L 1 1/8" to an ACME #537 13.5X16 V L 1 1/8". The reason for the switch was a kind of short notice thing. I was running the boat this weekend and dinged a piece of drift wood and notice a small vibration. I have a long trip planned this weekend and I didn't want to chance running the boat on the dinged prop. My buddy happened to have the spare prop so I was able to change it out, without having to buy a new prop right away. I would just like to get your take on the prop change.

    Thanks in advance,

    tom

Get a better hole shot and loose some top end maybe 2-3 mph
Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein

I just made the same change, and it is GREAT!! Especially with a boat full of people. Much better hole shot, and gets up to speed with a lot less throttle. Wish I had made this move sooner.

My boat came with the 537, it's a great prop!

I also have the ACME 537 and love the hole shot but am a little disappointed in top end. I could have used a few more mph last week to out run a storm but 44 mph is good

Anybody know what Redline is on the MP 340HP 5.7 ?

I wonder if ACME is considering something between the 16 and 17 1/2 like a 17. or 16 1/2 would like to have a little more velocity when going cruising and not have to run the rpms as high.

I've got the same boat and it was shipped with the 381. I commented to my dealer that it seemed a little sluggish taking off with the ballast system full. He looked at the prop and said that it should have been a 537 and he changed it out. As it has been commented, the hole shot is much better and it took a little off the top end. For my use, I like the 537 better. If you were doing more cruising, particularly at higher speeds, I would go back to the 381.
