I didn't have any racks last year and it was a huge pain. Over the winter I found racks on Ebay for 65$ for a pair. Being the cheap bastard that was too good to pass up. They say Centurion on them, but really I don't give a crap, you can't see that when the boards are up. I store my boat in the garage so I needed to be able to take them on/off easily when the tower goes down every night. I didn't want to bust out tools to do this. I also didn't want to tear up the cool looking Tige sticker that's on my tower when the racks are down.
The oval base plates where a little too big so I had a machinist friend do his magic and match thier size Perfectly to the oval on my tower. I put a brass bolt under each of the "finger like" board racks that bolt to the oval backing plate. The racks keep the bolts locked in place so now worries about messing with that. I drilled 2 1/4" holes into each oval metal plate on the tower. The aforementioned bolts go through the holes and then I use really nice rubber knobs that I ordered from Mcmaster-Carr.
I think they turned out pretty darned good and they meet all of my requirements.
