I noticed a similar problem with our new '07 rz2. It would surge a few mph up and down with speed set engaged. Inquired about a possible remedy, was told the problem could be that I wasn't fully engaging the accelerator while using the speed set. After confirming I was using it correctly the service dept. determined the engine ecu needed to be reflashed. After that was done speed set problems disappeared.

Wet, can you define "few mph"? Are you saying 2-5 mph or +-.5 mph?

2-3-4 mph. But you could certainly feel it hunt for the right speed setting. After the repair no longer feel or hear it surge but keeps the speed constant.

Hmmm, mine hunts a bit especially when making turns. I just figured it was the system adjusting itself normally, but maybe not. Does anyone else have anymore info about this ECU flash???

Mine was jumping around between 3-5 mph this weekend.

I posted the original question about the surging and the seemingly wide variation in speed when the speedset was engaged (throttle WOT). I am having my first service done next week and the shop will check it out. They suspect a faulty paddle wheel, but I will mention "reflashing the ECU". If they look at me funny, I'll report that, too!

Charlie will get you fixed up for sure and don't worry, they won't flash you

My 20V surges with throttle set at WOT. I varies by .3-.5 mph but the surge is irritating.

My speed set always worker within a .5 mph, but yesterday at the lake it was fluctuating between 3 and 5 mph.

I guess I need to take it in to get it adjusted. What do I tell the service department that they need to do?

Can you feel the .3-.5 change, or just see it on the gauge? we took our Z1 out a boarded Thursday and I noticed a fluctuation in the gauge, but could not feel it in the boat's actual speed...............and yes, if it was there, I could feel it.

Have you had your speed variance issue resolved? I am having the same issue with my 2008 20v, very frustrating to ski, the surging is so strong that it messes with balance & timing!! The old "perfect pass" system could be easily adjusted to compensate for this any idea how to make parrameter changes within the "speedset" system? Thanks....

Their is always some variance with the Speed Set. It normally never goes over when I use it. It is usually with in 1 mph of the Set speed. It will never be dead on as a skier or boarder will create different levels of drag for the boat to deal with. Also water conditions play a huge roll as well.

The set conditions where exceptional & strength of speed surges where strong enough to through off my balance (forcing me to break at my hips). Speed varience is approx. 4 mph...any idea if you can change speedset parameter?

I think they have to flash the ECM from my understanding...
