Drive with it on. Never had a problem.

If something that big could damage my prop, then I'll be glad it hit my prop and not the boat.

Remember, you do have a prop guard on your trailer, so it's extremely unlikely for that to occur.

        ACME Props

What makes Acme a better prop?

I too have a '99 2100v with a super sluggish hole shot. The last time I had the boat in for service the mechanic said I need a different prop due to altitude. Bought the boat in Arizona this spring, now it sits at 5,500 ft. elevation in Utah and last night it could barely pull out my 200lb. frame out of the water to slalom.

        I've got a 13 x 13.5 propeller and a black V-Drive.

Is the ACME 525 the way to go, even at altitude? Are their other brands to consider?

so, changed the prop yesterday and made a "test-drive". what a difference! the new acme prop 911 (13x10.5) feels like 100ps more engine power.
top speed changing not so much about 5 km/h faster. rpm 5200 at top speed of 60km/h. acceleration is much better - particulary with full ballast.
            thanks everybody...

Went and bought a prop today acme 657. Dealer says this is the best prop for or altitude (5300'). Will let you know after this weekend.

Tested the prop on Saturday. The top speed went up from 36 to 41mph. The rpm's went from 4000 to 4300 at top end. Pulling a knee boarder at 20mph the rpm's went from 3000 to 2800. Seems to pull real hard on the bottom with no vibration.

after reading this it sounds like I need a new prop too. The boat pulls great and the hole shot is amazing but it tops out at 33mph. I have the 4 blade on it now, and I think that I would be much better off with a 3 blade what does everyone here think???

I belong to terry reservoir just north of longmont. Yes I did buy the prop from Bill. He said for my boat this was the one. He has another one that is suppose to pull harder but will over tach.

Ok went to waterski specialty and picked up the 911 prop and ran it tonight. I saved my self $40,000+ This boat pulls hard and no vibration. VERY HAPPY. Top speed with about 665# of people was 41mph @ 4600 rpm. Pulls hard and fast to 20mph and holds it strong. Would recommend the 911 to anybody with the like boat.

Would the 911 be a good candidate for my boat?

Been following this post for a little bit. I had the boat home this weekend and got the info on my prop - ACME #381 13.5 x 17.5(what previous owners had on it), sounds like perhaps this prop is meant more for top speed? I am sold on the idea of a back-up prop so I am trying to figure out which prop would best suit my needs, which right now is just getting the boat on the water and getting comfortable with it. Long term plans are to mainly wakeboard with it, pull kids on tubes, and just general boating on lakes and river going from point A to B. Not water sacs or anything like that, just gear and maybe 3-4 adults with 3-4 kids.

I like the reviews I keep hearing about the 911 prop, sounds like it has some get up and go!

Just be sure to check which V-drive you have - blue (1.46:1) or black (1:1).
The different ratio V-drives will use different range props.
The 911 (13x10.5) seems like it's for the black V-drives.
Your 13.5x17.5 seems like that would be on the blue V-drive.
Our boating use is identical to yours - 3-4 adults, 4-5 kids, no ballast, tubes, kneeboards, skis & wakeboards
Our blue V-drive came with an OJ 14x18.
We put on an Acme 537 13.5x16 and what a difference.
I have to be careful pulling up skiers because there is so much pull now it will rip the handles out of their hands.
A friend's boat with ballast came with a 537 and he put on the next lower Acme which I think has a pitch of 15.
You might try borrowing an Acme 537 to test or contact Acme: http://www.acmemarine.com/contact_us.php

Thanks for the reply, yeah, it is the blue drive. Sounds like the 537 might be the ticket. I think I am going to wait until the following weekend, the plan is to put the boat on water for two days, and do some high speed runs and just in general boating. Perhaps get a better feel for the boat and see how it feels from a dead start. But I will also call ACME and get their opinion for a prop.

Silly question, but I'm still going to stick with the newbie label for a bit, but when accelerating, whether it is pulling a wakeboarder or just getting on plane, are people flooring (not sure if that is the right term for boating) the throttle or is it more of a certain range of RPM's that is used (say 3000-4000)??
