Filling in spray pockets?

Anyone else fill in their spray pockets on their '99-'03 vintage Tiges? If so, what changed about the wake?

These are spray pockets...

I have them on my 1999. The guy in the link above makes some pretty strong claims about how much the change increased the size and quality of his wake. Interesting.

Basically a gash missing on both sides of the stern.

My '03 23V has them. I'd love to fill them in too and get rid of the lip for surfing. I wish there was a non-permanent method - maybe building out a "plug" that could be attached without 'glassing it over BUT that also wouldn't come off at speed.

I'm riding a Phase5 oogle, Magnus is riding the Landlook and Nicolai and Martin is riding a LF Venture 4'8.

The boat is my 2001 21V with filled in spraypockets. Ballastsystem filled (400 on each side, 600 front) 250 lead extra front, 600 stainlesssteel extra on portside, 1 extra fatsack on rear seat. A lillte bit too much weight, but it was worth it.
I thing the speed was about 10-11mph.

Why would my 02' not have them? Not complaining glad I don't have them but what is going on?

The 20v was the first hull of the next generation. After that came the Ve hull and now we have the RZ and Z1 hulls.

Seems like they phased them out between '02 and '03 on different models.
