    Tower Mod to fit 20i

I was reading the thread about the differences in the E towers based on the boat size and wondered if anyone ever tried to modify one from a 22v (102 inch beam) to fit a 20i (96 inch beam). I have a used E tower from a 22 and thought I could do some cuts bends and welds to make it fit a 20i.

Since there are only 6 inches difference in the width, the problem area would be the pieces by the windshield. Bend and cut it to match the windshield and re-weld the mounts. The other area of modification would be the billets to have a single mount point.

    Any thoughts?

Cut 6" out of the 2 cross tubes and make it narrower?

I was thinking more like just bending the sides in 3 inches each without a cut or cut the cross bar at each side near the welds, remove the amount not needed, then re-weld it back on each side. Again the width will be the easy part. Any ideas about bending the side tubes? Any concerns about structural integraty?

cut the top and reweld.... dont think I would bend that low close to the mounts. Besides you would have to bend out and then have tower sides that stick out past the boat? not sure you would like or want that look. Cut the top crosses and reweld would be the best ... imo. then give it a sweet powder coat color match to baot and you should be rock'n.

Do you have any idea on how to bend the side tubes to match the 20i windshield line? Is it difficult?

Do you have a pic of the tower? Sounds like you are describing one off a Ve!

You would need to find a fab shop with a mandrel bender or it would look like muffler pipes.
