Perfect Pass - Pay for Install or Do Yourself?

I have a 2004 22V - New to Me! - and want to add perfect pass...I am just not sure if it is really worth it to pay someone esle to install. I have the paddle wheel style speedo...any feedback appreciated!

    Thanks!

Its pretty easy, the hardest part will be drilling a hole in your boat for the paddle wheel

I did my own. Directions are very clear. Measure 20 times, drill SMALL pilot hole, check location, bore large hole. Wiring is easy.

I did it by myself on our old boat, 2000 21V. Took me about half a day, but that was following directions step by step and I was only 17 then also.

I have the same boat as you, only a 2005, it was a very easy install, 6-pack kind of project. But measure before you get very far into it I also did NOT want to attach the servo to the water hose as in the directions so I through bolted it to the back of the wall on the starboard side storage. The cable does not make nearly as much bend mounted there either which I figured would be a good thing. Let me know if you want any pics of how I mounted the servo or where I drilled the paddle wheel hole.

6 pack is definitely needed for this job. Drilling a whole into the hull is the worst part of it..

mtnsmith - - Pictures would be greatly appreciated!! Now that I have the confidence of Tige Owners - I will order it tomorrow!! and pick up a 6-pack!

Do I still have to drill a hole for the paddle wheel, or can I use the one from the speedometer? Also - a local shop told me that they would replace my speedometer with the Perfect Pass gauge, is that wise or should I put it somwhere else and leave the speedo in? I have a NavMan system that was on the boat in the spot next to the radio, so I can't put it there unless I take that out...I am not really sure what it does anyways...except tell me how much gas money I am burning!! Please advise!! Thanks.

Try this thread by Moki. He did a great job explaining what to do with the PerfectPass install.

Thanks for the pictures. I am sure I will have more questions once I have the PerfectPass in my hand! Feel free to send anymore info that anyone has! I will be installing it next weekend!

I see that the new correct craft boats have a new g.p.s speed controle system. they say it is very accurate. does anyone know if these are sold after market?

Anyone know which is the better buy? ZeroGPS or PerfectPass? I have seen the ZeroGPS in magazines, but don't know anyone that has one.

I havn't heard much about zero off performance wise, seems simpler. PP is more common and is a very good system

You can bet g.p.s. systems will be the standard soon!
