    $210!!!!!!!!
    + $120!!!!!!! EACH!!!!!!!!

$540 to install 2 cleats!!!!!! (assuming it is 210 total labor and not 210 each)

What are the shop fees? $400 an hour?

Where do you live, I'll do it for 20% off.

That's high considering its about a 2 beer job and you can get them on ebay for sub $40 (if they are the Tige' branded ones, then $120 is going price; I can sacrifice a logo to save $90). In fact I just bought a stainless flush fuel vent from a seller that had a dozen or so of the slim Whitecap pull up cleats left over from a boat show for $30 each.

Pulling the seat backs on the newer boats is a piece of cake compared to some of us older owners. Put down some blue painters tape, mark location using the templates that come with the cleats, drill a pilot in reverse, drill to size in reverse. Pop the cleat in, bolt it down, vacuum up the mess.

I am the opposite of you. I don't want to install on a "new" boat. For consistency with look of new cleats I want branded Tige even though the price is outrageous.

I can install them if I wanted to, but I don't want to yet. I bought new so I didn't have to work on it for a while. Once the boat has some use then I will rollup sleaves and have at it.

      Have a good one.

I actually added it yp to be $450 - 10% = $405. That does not sound as bad. I agree that it should be no more than 1 hour labor on that. Our shop labor was $90/hour last year
        Let it be!!!

You could be right . We will see if labor stays as high.Supposedly they will only charge actual not to exceed estimate.

The cleats with the Tige logo are very pricey but I want them to match other cleats. Just personal preference that I am willing to pay for,for now.

It will change when I have time on boat

When we are docking, we use the hand rail in the bow.

That's what we've been doing for years...so far so good.
As I mentioned earlier, if I'm anchoring for the night, I'll use the bow eye because we get some really bad storms around here.

Same here when anchoring, day or night. You can take the boat out and come back in at will using the clips, without having to tie and untie knots all the time.

The shop I am going to also is $90 an hour in off season which we are in until April. I talked to them about the labor today and verified that they only will charge me for what is used (which they have done before) or a max of $210.00. If in fact it does turn out to be "a two beer" job then I suspect labor charge will be around $90.00.

As to using stainless eye hooks I use these for docking overnight. They are also practical for anchoring if you know your depth and have either pre=tied the anchor rope to one or adjust on the fly. For temporary anchoring and tying off, my personal preference is to tie off to a cleat

I have been doing it that way since I was real young. lol

Now that I am much older , my midwestern gut is in the way of bending over the bow
