    Anchoring and extra cleats.

How do other Tige V series owners anchor their boats at a sandbar our other location without front bow cleats?

Is it worth putting them on or do you just hook to the front lfting eye? Trying to decide whether to install 2 front cleats one on each side of bow by the hand rails.

Any better location? we would be using recessed cleats for the project.

The current ones seem good to tie off boat to boat and maybe docking but docking I usually use the lifting eyes.

My previous boats had four cleats two up by the bow and two in the rear on a runner next to the swim platform. They worked well. The ones on the 20V seem a tad odd.

    Looking for ideas.

My 01 21 V is in the same boat. I have no bow cleats. Last year I just tied off from the hand rail. That thing is strong. But I don't like the idea of tying off the hand rail. So I think I am going to add a pop up one on the bow.
I am going to follow Dogbert step by step when he re did his seats. Take the back rest off. It appears by the pics to be a 4-6" hole behind the seat rest so access looks good. I have to do a search but someone lately just posted how to install the pop up ones. So I think I will give it a try. What is the worst thing that can happen. You have an extra hole in the bow. LOL
This what I am planning on doing. Others may have a better idea, since you have a new boat. That may be a tab harder to cut a hole into.

A 5th pop-up cleat is an option from Tige, and is mounted on the bow perpendicular. Where you might normally find the nav lights.

I added to pop-ups to each side of the bow for tying up and anchoring. Much easier then trying to reach and tie off to the winch eye.

I do what samw does. I am contemplating putting some cleats on either side of the windshield for when we tie up. The rails work just fine and if I really need a batten down the hatches, I'll tie it to the bow eye.

It's all a matter of preference.

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to add two cleats one on each side of the bow just in front of the grab rails.

I was considering one on the flat spot of the top of my bow running perpindiular. I normally use the lifting ring but it's a PITA reaching, bending over the bow.

This is a low priority for me but if I can finish the battery, stereo, and led install i'll do this, otherwise, whenever I can find time and $.

Yes since I still have not taken possesion as far as Tige and warranty are concerned, and the boat is still at my dealer for other work they need to address, I probably will have them do it.

Once the boat is out of warranty I will work on it myself but I am not going to take the chance on voiding the warranty so unless the dealer is way out of bounds I'll have them do it.

Since it is still off season I will get the price Tueday

                      1Lab_trainer,

We recently ordered a boat from Tige and their price for additional cleats was $112 each. We had them put them exactly where you are describing. Let us know how much the dealer charges.

                        I have the same hull.
I use a box anchor and connect it to the bow eye.
Just reach down from the bow, it easy to get to.

( You would not want to use a cleat in rough conditions any way)

I agree with the rough conditions statement but to park at a sandbar or an island for a bit in calm conditions I would think it would be a PITA to tie off to front eye hanging over the bow. There are times at the dock where I hate the front eye ring and hanging over the water in a 10' wide slip. Just my

Well I got my quote from my Tige dealers service department. Retail per Tige cleat is over $120.00. Labor to install is $210.00. I am sure I can add these my self but I am concerned with the warranty and me goofing up on a brand new hull. After I talked with them they are going to discount 10% which is better than nothing and although you can get recessed cleats for much less they don't say Tige and on a new boat I want the add ons to look like factory so I decided to go with the dealer.
