2007 20V with Kicker Tower Speakers

Does any one have a 2007 20V with premium sound and the Kicker Tower Speakers? Are you happy with the stock Kicker Tower speakers or is the sound bad enough to require an upgrade to Wetsounds?
Do you know what model Kicker Tower speakers you have as what were the stock 2007 speakers.

    Thanks

Its an apple to orange comparison. The Kickers are a more traditional cone type speaker. They produce excellent, crisp, clear sound, but by the nature of design, dont project the level of volume, at that kind of distance, that the wetsounds do.

I have 4 of the Kickers (KS650.2 Component) on my tower and or dam happy with them, even with the under-powered factory installed amp.

Tige used the Kicker KS650.2 components in Skylon cans on a Kicker ZX350.4. This amp is perfect for 2 speakers, but is a little light for 4, IMHO. It even pushes 2 Westsounds nicely.

If yours dont sound good, I'd say that the amp needs tweaking/tuning.

              Mike,
Thanks for your opinion and info. I see xpjim1 has PRO60's for a great price but I am not an audiophile as I said before and I have no personal need to blast across the smaller lakes I hit on weekends.

Also still not sure if I will do before summer but all I need at this point is clear crisp sound when on the sand bar or floating and swimming until a second battery is installed. Thanks for the model number. It will make it easier to search. I am only looking to put up two for now. They might detract from the color scheme.

              Have a good weekend.

Well if I had a Tige then it is entirely possible I would have made the drive. As it is right now it is almost 4 months since I bout the Banana/Orange 20V and I still have not taken possesion So at this rate if there is one in 09 I'll make it. I doubt that they would have like my Four Winns 180 SE Horizon.

Well here is the long and short of it. The kickers I bought in the cans they came in from Kicker would not fit the tower. Based on all the input and suggestions I found "B" stock P80's and am going with them.

Only if I find a reasonable cost 200-250 watt rms 2 channel AMP to drive them. And the game continues!!!!

With all the money going into a second battery and speakers and 2nd amp I could have bought one hell of a slalom ski or 2 maybe 3.....

Well there goes another piece now just battery stuff 1 ea Kicker ZX 550.2 on order. Yea. Now the fun can begin when I get the boat once thre trailer is finally implemented. It has ben done for over a week.

A little off topic but why do you feel that 4 KS Kickers off a 350 watt amp is under powered thats the setup i have in my boat and my car. Idk about the boat tige wires there speakers kinda weird but on my car the gain is not all the way up for fear of blowing the speakers. If anything i would think a 350 would over power them 350/4=87.5 the RMS on KS's is 75 that leaves 12 watts left for each speaker. I think that Kicker designed the 350 to work with those speakers in a car with 4. Just my 2 cents. But back on topic havent rode behind a boat with new speakers but I have 2 sets of kickers on my boat and u can hear them fine at 80ft.

Tige wires the 4 speakers in 2 parallel pairs bridged, so the amp sees 2ohms, This caused my amp to clip at higher volume so Phil had me rewire it 1 speaker per chnl so the amp sees a 4ohm load and puts out about 45w p/chnl. No clipping, less heat, less, current draw, better sound, and I can turn the volume near wide open

At 2ohms bridged, the amp can put out near the speakers rated RMS, but if you cant crank it up, what is the advantage? This is why I say it is under powered for the 4. It will power 2 of the KS's or 2 PRO60's just perfect, but 4 is pushing it IMHO, so I say step up to a higher output amp rating at "X"watts x 4 @ 4ohm like the zx650.4. I plan to do this in the next couple of months.

Hopefully Phil will step in with a more complete answer

I don't want to write a book... still...

The ZX350.4 is stable to 2-ohms per channel in 4-channel mode. It will deliver roughly 90 watts out of each channel into a 2-ohm load. A 2-ohm load would be two 4-ohm speakers in parallel, so each speaker would get 45 watts. To do this exactly for all four amp channels, we are talking about 8 speakers, two per channel.

It is stable to 4-ohms per channel in stereo bridge mode; no lower. Wired in bridge mode, the ZX350.4 will drive a pair of speakers with a power output if about 180 watts per speaker. Notice, I said a pair of speakers, not two pair in parallel.

When 4 speakers are connected in parallel to a bridged ZX350.4 it shows up as a 1-ohm load per channel; close to a dead-short. The amplifier does not like that.

The ZX350.4 is a real good amplifier for four of the KS65.2 component speakers if one takes the time to get a pair of wires through the tower so that each speaker has its own amp channel. The KX652 speakers are rated at 75 watts RMS, and the ZX350.4 will deliver 60 watts to each 4-ohm speaker when wired that way. It does take pulling extra wire though, as Tige does not pull 4 speaker wire pairs through the tower, only two.
                            It's not an optical illusion.
                            It just looks like one.....

So help me understand that concept a bit more, is that for all amps or just that brand of kicker? What if you have a 2 channel amp and you're trying to drive 4 speakers?
