How is the slalom wake behind a 21V?

Sorry for the double post, I had another thread going, but wanted to get everyone's oppinion, and thought a new thread would be best.

I currently have a 19 foot I/O, it has an ok wake for waterskiing, but not like a 20i or 20V would have. My wife likes the V's much better, so we decided to buy a Tige 20V. That is until we found out, they are a little out of our price range. I just found a really nice 2002 21V, the problem is, it has a different wake then the 20V's. Being that we are waterskiers, I am concerned about the wake.

So, how many of you slalom behind your 21V? What is your opinion of the wake?

    thanks!!

    I/O to v-drive

Going from an I/O to a V-drive your slalom wake will be much flatter no matter what Tige you decide to get. I currently own an 06 20V and love it for its ski wake. I came from a 18' Ski Supreme with a perfect wake. What sold us on the V-drive was the seating arrangement. But now that we have a multi sport boat we are really getting into wakeboarding and wakesurfing. Good luck in your quest to find the right boat. If you go with a Tige you cant go wrong!

At 32 Mph, you'll find that the wake is probably going to be better than your 19' I/O was. At least that's what I found. It cleans up real nice. It's not like the old flat-bottomed inboard ski boats, but it's pretty nice for a boat of that size. The 21v should be a little better for skiing because it has spray pockets and a smaller surface area at ski speeds.

I have a 22v and the wake is good. It is not a comp ski wake but much better than our old 21 I/O The wake is not flat but what is there is soft. I found that 15 off it pretty darn good.

I agree with KonaKing- I used to Slalom a lot - and in fact when I bought my 21V i took a slalom pass behind it to see what the wake was like. in the day, I skiied 22 off at 36mph and behind the 21V, that's not too bad. Unlike an I/O- the transition from the trough to the peak of the wake is very smooth- one roll instead of two hard bumps that you'll get with an I/O. I think the "sweet spot" on the wake is 15 off at 36, but it will set up pretty well all the way down to 32. Keep the TAPS all the way down. If you're trying to shoot the course with a 21/22V you'll be disapointed- the boat's too wide and the wake transition is too deep to really nail your cuts- but for recreational slalom, it will be a major difference from the I/O- my .02

I ended up going with a 2004 Switch V, that my wife found in NE. We drove up there a couple of weeks ago and picked it up. Had it checked out by Waterski Specialty in Denver (Great bunch of guys!!), and it's now sitting in storage.

I am thinking about taking it out tomorrow, it's going to be 65 in Denver, but not sure about draining the block afterwards.

Here is a link reguarding the boat, as well as some pictures.

I have a 22Ve 2006 and I ski behind it every time I go out... and I have skied waterski tournaments and courses plenty... my wake is definitely smaller than a 19 I/O but not as flat as a true direct drive ski boat... but I still love it b/c you can ski and wakeboard and surf and barefoot and airchair and many other things behind a boat of that size...

Dont embarras a V-drive by skiing behind it. Thats like buying a hummer and putting 26" wheels on it.

Hey now I have been behind a V-drive for 8 years. It wasn't mine or a Tige but it was more than good for a 23 foot v-drive to ski recreationally.

Maybe your biga$$ v-drive. Some of us have more nimble versions that were designed as multi-sport boats

I am told (haven't done it yet), that my Switch V (20V) will be a great skiboat, as well as a great wakeboard boat. I don't think it will be embaressed, it will be proud!!
