    When did the 20V change?

    Hi,

My wife and I would like to buy a ski boat, we have decided that the 20V is the best one for us. She really likes the new one, but it's a little out of our price range, so we need to target a pre-owned boat. Does anyone know the model year that this model came out?

Also, does anyone know how deep the older version of the 20V is, compared to the new version? She likes the safety of how deep the new ones are, inside the cabin.

    thanks!

Under the "Model Specs" tab. it shows the 20V was launched in 2002. Dont what changes it has gone through since then. I guess you guys are looking for the seating config of a V-drive? 20V is a good all around boat......skies well, add a little ballast and it throws a decent wake. Load it up and it surfs real good.

Welcome to the forum, good luck in you search.

*EDIT* talk to Jason B, he has an 02 20V

Love my boat. It's real deep compared to most other brands (unless you're practically sitting on the floor--brand will go unnamed ).

I rarely go out without my 2 smaller kids and I've never worried about them.

As far as changes go, visually I can't see any at the new ones I've looked at. The towers have changed for the better, the speakers have changed for the bettter, the vinyl and cushion patterns have changed for the better, but the basic seating arrangment and the hull appear to be unchanged.

We comfortably get 4 kids and 6 adults on our boat. We could pack on more but then it's not as comfortable and nobody gets much time behind the boat.

If you're looking at used boats you could really find a good deal around this time.

My suggestion would be this: Take pics of whatever boat you're looking at, post them up here and we'll be glad to pick the boat apart and help ya any way we can. This site is invaluable for a new owner! The guys here are really helpful, very nice, and luckily for you--must of us spend WAY too much time on here instead of doing our real jobs.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

        Thanks guys!!

Well, the only things I have turned up is a 2006 20i in Denver (I live in Denver), that is really clean but it's not the V that my wife wants, a 2003 20V in TX, but it has 340 hours, and is missing several things (bimini, swing tounge, etc..) and a 2002 21V in AZ. I havn't talked to the person in AZ yet, but it appears to have everything we'd like to have, other then it won't fit into our garage, but I learned yesterday that my garage door is just under 8 feet wide, so a 20V won't fit in there either.

It doesn't appear as if Tige makes a 21V anymore. Does anyone know if they are as deep inside as the newer boats?

        thanks!

          The Z1 is the new 21' V-drive.

          340hrs on an 03.............that's not bad, I got 200 on my 06!

I had an 02 20V and what has changed since then to now is that they went to the switch hull. What that means is the transaom is now straight instead of slanted. This gave a little more seating room. Mine had a seat in the at the bow entrance with the ice chest you had to step over to get to the bow. The new ones that part is removed. Both have deep freeboards and was the reason I had bought mine

xpjim1 - We are waterskiers, havn't started to wakeboard yet. How was the wake from the old hull for watersking?

              thanks

Isn't amazing, you find the boat that fits all your needs then your wife sees it and just says no I don't like it at you are back to square one. As long as we are talking about 20Vs, why are they about 350lbs lighter for 08 than 07? The other question is when did Tige start putting in the higher quality padding and vinyl in the seats? Was it 07 or 08.

I have very few friends who waterski, but the ones who did say it was decent. I remember the 02 20V had some type of waterski certification. Will have to look at the brochure when I get home tonight

                    The vinyl changed in '07.

My '02 has some sort of sticker about "Official towboat of something skiing or other" on it, not sure since it's at home and I'm at work.
I am not a competitive skier or anything so I may not be the best to chime in about the ski wake, BUT I don't think it's bad at all. I consider it pretty smooth when I ski. It flattens ot pretty decent IMO. My business partner's wife has been slalom skiing since before she was out of diapers (maybe exagerated a bit) and she said it was really nice for a V drive boat. She's always asking me the next time we're going out. Obviously, if skiing is your passion and that's all you're gonna do- go for the I drive. If you want to do a bit of everything the V drive seems to be more versatile.

Lastly, the depth of the freeboard on ANY Tige is going to be good. You don't have to worry about that.

Also, check wakeworld.com sometimes they have some older Ties in the classified section.

there is this one which sounds like to me but it never hurts to get ahold of him and see maybe if it's true. If so, $6900 is a smokin deal!!

Thanks for the links, the switch looks nice, I don't know if this is true or not, but I've been told that I should stay away from the switchs. I was told they are cheaper boats, and don't hold up as well.

I would love to buy a new 20V (like that one on ebay), it's just a little bit more. :-)

The 21V that I though was in AZ, is actually in CO. It looks really nice, I'm just not sure about the wake.

Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but the switch was nothing more than graphics and options (may be a different hull then now, but so is the V and Ve) but the build quality was just as high as any other Tige.

The switch had a whole different interior and dash. The new 20V used the switch hull but went back to the standard interior.

I think this is the boat you are talking about in TX. Since other dealers have brand new 07 for 40K I think you should be able to knock down the price on this one.

That is the one I was looking at in TX, but the dealer said it was a little beat up.

This is the 21V I am now looking at.

It looks like a real nice boat, I am going to see it in person on Saturday. My only concern is the wake for slalom skiing.
