believe me even if you knee holds up on the ski you still will get hooked on surfing the first time you try it.

My dad just skied for the first time this year after a two year recovery from a broken hip.

I will be interesting to try! How much is a basic board?
Wakeboard is also an alternative once I can teach my wife to drive the Tige and use speed set. She had problems with throttle by wire

$200 can get you a good beginner board, (or a more advanced board used)

Speed Set is easy to use, you can set the surf speed and then give the wifey the controls and tell her to drive in a straight line.

My wife has done good learning to drive the boat for me, and able to free surf since June

I have only strapped the plank to my feet once this year, and that was Jan 1st. I've spent most of my ride time surfing and love it

Well had a followup conversation with my salesman yesterday and Tige corporate will not document for all it is worth.

12/14/07 The comment above was just a statement of fact. Tige was kind enough to tell me why they would not document. Now I may be a grumpy old man but I don't see a Rant in the comment above. It was just a message meant to update status. IMO Tige has valid reasons not to doc so I am ok with their decision. Have a nice day

Which I know they would take care of it, if it is in the warranty period and scope.
I don't know where that came from. Tige said they never had a pylon failure and did not expect one with the new design so I asked if they would doc that they would fix just in case. My comment was not a rant at Tige I have been happy with their responses and call backs to me. I wasn't worried about the warranty period but further down the road. Sue me for the concern.

Before my case was jumped on I was going to post that I had a very pleasent conversation with a VP from Tige and I was pleased with his answers and explanation of the issue and that he calmed my concerns re: the pylons 300lbs strength rating and that of the towers. We talked about other issues but I am going to keep silent re:them because I surely don't need your comments jumping down my case if you don't like my comment.

Tige and my dealer seem like top of the line organizations to work with and kudoos to Tige and the personal followup of the VP.

My misunderstanding It seemed as though you were saying they would not document they have issues with the pylon. My bad. Sorry I was in a PMS mode at the time I responded. I just don't want this site to end up like the guys on some other sites (I will not mention them) and start to pound on boat manufactures. It is all good I did not want you to feel like I was jumping on your case I just did not want this to become a negative thread.

It is not reccomended to pull anything more than one skier or wakeboarder... anything else voids the warranty. That means no tubes, no kite surfing, not two skiers, etc. Should you have a tower fail after doing one of these things, my advice is to be honest, suck it up a bit, admit to it, and ask the manufacturer to HELP you out as much as possible. They have the right to refuse any help at all, but as they say, you get more bees with honey.

As for reinforcing the fiberglass.. do keep in mind that manufacturers could likely make a near perfect boat, and could easily reinforce it more. However, they keep costs in mind when designing the boats. Many people think engineers are paid to design the best product, and that's rarely the case. In nearly all cases, they are paid to build the best product they can within a certain budget.

It's just like towers: Everybody would love the look and performance of one made out of 3" pipe, but not many want to pay the added cost. The boat companies put on a boat what gets them the most sales and the most profit.

I guess the long and short of it is that the market drives what the manufacturers make. If the market isn't willing to pay the added cost for something, it only cuts into the manufacturer's profits.

IMO it is time to close this post. You just have to hope your dealer and his sales VP will go to bat for you if the tower or Pylon fail.

                          Basic guidlines=

                          Pylon- Skiing and tubing
                          Tower Wakeboard(2),Wakesurf and airfoil.

Sorry for the contreversial post. Nobody knows the absolute answer.

Tige has published a limitation that covers them legally if there was to be misuse resulting in litigation. Tige is takin a good business position by good business people.

                          Thanks All

That's what we've been trying to tell you. In a sue-happy environment, you really have to be careful. We had one guy on here trying to get Tige to reimburse him for the boat because of an issue that several dealers and Tige offered to take care of.

Warranty policies also protect a company from replacing a product that has been abused. It's almost never an issue of litigation. I work for XTP, and we make the towers for Tige. I can promise you that what I said is fact.
