V Series Pylon piece of s__t or not

I am furious at myself for not checking the pylons capacity before we dropped our cash. A lot of things we did (or better stated did on our old Four Winns 180 SE) we won't be able to do w/o having a potential pylon missle when we exceed 300lbs. Double Slalom (nope) Double air chair (nope). Triple 60" tubes for tube wars (nope) Oh well I won't have to worry about it until my New 2007 20V comes out of storage this spring. Is there a way to shore up the pylons mounting or is there a third party pylon that will carry more weight. According to the manual the tower has similar limitations.

Isn't this suppposed to be a ski/wakeboard boat with other recreational capabilities?

BTW excellent video. Awesome display of driving and how did those skiers stay up in that rough water?

Well, don't get to upset. You still have the lift rings on the transom. These are very strong because they use them to pick the boat up. I'd recommend using these for tubing and multiple skiers.

What about adding a tow hook to the transom?

I've been thinking of adding one to my 20V...

Tow Hook to address under engineered pylon

            Rant On
IMO Putting a tow hook on the back of the boat is a good patch to the under engineered problem our friends at Tige have given us.

I am going to discuss with my Tige dealer who has not delivered my boat because of trailer issues what they can do to actually give it more strength before I take delivery. I wanted a performance ski/wakeboard boat and if I can only ski or tube a max of 300lbs it does not meet the needs of the market or what my boat that cost a lot less was able to do on its tow hook

Charlie Pidgeon should be shot for cutting costs on a key item on a ski boat. I really don't care if I can play with tap's if I can't haul two to three skiers without voiding my warranty. From what I read the tower is limited also so even multiple boarders will be an issue.

Do any manufactures state in writing that it's ok to pull multiple riders from pylons and towers?

I thinks this is just a lot of legal mumbo jumbo as stated earlier. I haven't seen a pylon fail, nor here of one first hand (either dealer or owner) just the usual friend of a friend's uncle' mother's son knows a gel-coat guy kinda thing.

I have, and will continue to use my boat in the manor that I bought it for. If it breaks, I guess Charlie and I will sit down and come up with a solution.

Before you shoot anyone, most towers have warnings on them saying not to pull tubes or multiple boarders. I'd worry less about the tower breaking and more about capsizing your boat should a tube submerge at the wrong time.

While my pylon is mounted in a manner that's pretty sturdy, it's still not as strong as the lift rings on my transom.

I guarantee that your Tige is built a heck of a lot better than your Four Winn. I think you're making a bigger deal out of the pylon issue than is necessary.

Like I recommended earlier, if you're worried about it, use the lift rings on the transom.

I wish someone had a picture of how these new pylons are attatched becuase i know on my boat the pylon isn't going anywhre unless its taking the boat with it.

Towing double tubes is a little better for "tube wars" when attached to the lift rings anyway because the tubes seperate a little better due to the 6ft difference in the attachment points. IMO they come together a lot harder when they meet and that makes it more fun for everyboy (except the person getting pounded).
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I don't see many CC, MC or BU using lift rings to tow. I have never used lift rings in 30 + years of slalom and tubing. It is just plain to use a ski boat that way. We would have 3 or 4 of my cousins go skiing at the same time. I had my cheap Four Winns for 14 years and upgraded to the Tige 20V this fall. But amazingly enough a boat that cost 1/3 of the Tige 14 years ago could pull multiple skiers on its tow eye and did not state a weight limit. Its only warning was no parasailing which was to be expected. Reason for going with a Tige is I wanted an upgrade and did not want overpriced MC,CC or BU.

Both my cousins and BIL have MC and they have no weight issue. What concerned me is a poster claimed the pylon on his 2007 20V wobbled with one slalom skier going to town. A real confidence builder.

A ski boat / wake boat should be able to tow more than 1 otherwise it is a hopped up runabout.

FIC boat is an 04 and i am telling you that that ski pole is mounted WAY different than a newer V drive. the new V drives are through the deck as in the previous pic there is a piece of alum. plate on the underside adds strength. your boat will perform all the watersports you like you may just have to do it a little different than you have in the past. so quiturbitchin and have fun!! congrats on the new boat. your gonna luv it!! post up some pics when you get it. what is the reason for double slalom pull just curious? all kidding aside you will be happy with your new boat.

My family has enjoyed for many years on our I/O based boats and now with some of our inboards to double and triple up to have a little fun sprayin each other and teaching the younger ones how to start a cut and slow down a turn. We also like to tube together and with the kids growing up ans soon to be out of the house doing those things are important now and when they start their families. We really enjoy going for a ten mile run on Bullshoals or Tablerock and I don't want to loose the ability to all get up three slalomers at once.

Normaly tube wars with two-three tubes or 2 airchairs are used a lot. We are not into wakeboards yet. Thats for the younger generation to learn. As to the Pylon issue I am just torked off. It is not worth gettin into again. When my trailer is finally done( it is too long and too high to make it in my garage, and I live in a neighborhoood where no Rec vehicles allowed on drive or yard) I will look at the Pylon personally and see if the head tech and I can figure a way to strenghten it and we'll go from there. End of subject. I like the Tige for its price point and features vs the big three and can't wait to get up on it and get my daughters up. The following is my 20V but it will have a black with white pinstripe trailer.
