    Engine cut out

On Sunday cruising at 35mph my engine cut out and all dash power/electrical cut out. The speedo and tach froze at the last place they had been. I tried to restart and there was no power at all. All of the aux power was there, the lights, blower, bilg all worked but nother to the engine. I had to get towed back.

This is a 07 22ve with 80hrs on it. Anyone else ever have this happen? It's almost like the computer in the dash shut everything down. Very, very strange. My dealer will hopfully get on it this week.

It sounds like the wiring harness became disconnected or the main fuse on the engine blew. I'm not familiar with the MP engines, but on the Mercruiser there's a big red reset button mounted on the engine that, when tripped, has the same effect.

The only other thing I've seen cause something like that is a battery that's shorted out internally.

Does sound like it would be the circuit breaker.

Or the loose ground. I'd actually check that first.

Yeah but will the blower and all the other accessories still work?

I had checked the breakers and nothing had popped. I turned on and off the main battery switch too. I wasn’t aware that there was a breaker on the engine itself. All of the aux worked so I didn't think it was a grounding issue.

It depends on where the ground is loose.

i would check main power wire at key switch and also by pass the kill switch. i have had alot of problems with the kill switches. also found some loose wires on the key switches that will cause your problem. but the kill switch would be the first thing id check.if you get up behind the kill switch you will see the purple wire that is cut and the kill switch is wired in i would cut the kill switch out of the loop and butt connect the purple wire back together.

                  Thanks! I'll look into that.

The wires to the ignition switch are also a good place to look. Mine never quit to where it wouldn't crank again, but did shut me down several times before I located the loose connection on the switch. Good luck, hopefully it is something so easy!

Oh Yeah the saftey lanyard would be a good thing to check as well

                        Saftey lanyard

I have had my safty lanyard button stick on me a couple of times when the boat sits for a while. Just wiggle it around and if it starts you found the problem.
