BTW everyone - I didn't get a chance to see the boat this weekend while in Chicago. Didn't realize it was another 2½ hours away and couldn't fit it in to my schedule. So, I'm bumming. May make a special trip down there in the next week or two if nothing closer comes up for sale.....

      Model confusion

Hi everyone. Say, I'm seeing a fair number of Tige's out there, but some say 2100v and others 21v. Is there any difference? I checked out the model specs link for 2001, but I don't see any 2100v. So, are the 21v and 2100v the same?

Same boat. It was a 2100v until 2001, when it became the 21v. They didn't change the hull to the 22V until late 2003.

So how does our 2000 21V fit into this model history sequence?
          Didn't the 21V start in 1999?
Is there a model history around anywhere?

Actually, I think you're right, except it was the 21v Rider's Edition. When I bought mine new, you had 2 options, the 2100v and the 21v Rider's edition. They were mechanically the same boat (hull & engine options), just different trim levels. 21v came standard with a tower and you could get the same tower on my boat.

Also, check the model specs on this site to see how the lineup changes over the years.

              21v or 22v

Funny how budgets change when you see by spending just that little bit more, you get up to the next level. Awful! But anyway, what do you all think of a 22v vs. 21v? Here's a nice specimen:

              http://lakegage.com/UTI0301.htm

For $3-4k more the boat is 2 years newer (although still more hrs), the limited version and from what I read the hull produces a better wake? No tower but would be TAPS2; it it better than TAPS? Finally, I would have thought this boat had the GM Vortex engine but it says in the add it's the Merc MPI 350. Is 315hp enough for the bit extra width and length of this boat? The 21v is 3,450lbs but the 22v adds some heft at 3,820lbs. Thanks as always for your input. I'm getting closer to making a decision here!

You'll def. want a tower. The limited hull and riders hull is the exact same thing, different options and graphics. TAP2 is going to have the convex V hull(It will ride smoother over double ups and in the chop). Also the 315hp Merc Should push that easily.

The 22v is a newer generation hull. Not quite like the Ve or RZ, but newer. The TAPS system isn't really all that different. The 315 is plenty of power, especially with the right prop.

As for hours. Think about it this way. Every 100 hrs is an oil change if you were using it as much as your car. So, 300 hours is about 3 oil changes.

The key is to have each one checked out mechanically so there are no surprises.

You can easily add a tower to that boat and there are a lot of options depending on how much you want to spend ($1500-$3000).

Look at the options on each boat. Does one have perfect pass? Gotta have the tower. Interior condition? How were they stored, both outside, garage? My son is a very accomplished rider, and he likes the 21v better than the 22v of his friends. His friends like it better as well. Otherwise, have them checked mechanically to be sure there are no hidden problems. It will be worth it. Either choice, if they are both in good shape, you can't go wrong.
