    07 22VE or 05 24V

I am looking at buying a new 07 22VE or a 24V. Haven't had a boat this big yet, does the 22VE need ballast? Not gonna surf, just a lot of boarding. Neither boat has the ballast, is it worth paying the money to put it in?

The boat does not need a ballast system for the beginner to intermediate boarder IMO. Depending upon who and how many you invite out onto the boat, would dictate which size boat you would need. I would get the 22Ve. It only fits 2 less than the 24Ve and it's cheaper. But, both models are great IMO.

I think he's looking at an '05 24V, not an '07 24Ve. The hulls are a bit different, but I'm with chpthril on this one, you definitely want the Ve hull over the V hull.

I know a couple of guys have commented that the 22Ve has a little better all around wake then the 24V/Ve. I have not spent enough time on a 24 to say this my self, but I am damn happy with the unweighted wake of my 22Ve

I think it was Lee (sorry if I'm wrong) that said the Ve has a little more rocker to the hull then the V.

Have you not surfed yet? I have found it addictive and you would need to add some ballast to get a great surf wake.

As far as whether or not a Tige needs ballast is a relative question IMHO. I dont need ballast in my boat to wakeboard, it puts out far more wake then my skills require As far as surfing, I can almost surf with out ballast, but it is a whole lot of work, so adding ballast just makes it easier and more enjoyable.

My point is, get a pull behind each and see if YOU need ballast.

Post some pics when you make your choice.

EDIT: this may be what I remember reading, but it was not Lee http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/show...ve+hull+rocker

The hull was redesigned for '06 starting with the 22 Ve. The 24's a nice boat, but the Ve is better than the V. That said, the 24V does put out a really nice wake for surfing

The Ve has a lot of nice other features, that the V doesn't. Like the walk through transom and such. It is what sold me on the Tige. Also, with the 07 you get the full digital dash and drive by wire system. I really like the feedback I get from the digital dash, I really feel like all systems are being monitored for me. Gives me some piece of mind.

I would go with the 22Ve if I were you, the handling will be slightly better and if you do decide to add ballast, the wake will be huge!

I just bought an 08 22Ve (today!!!). I looked at an 07 24Ve, it just seemed a bit too big. I like to board a lot. The 22 has plenty of room for people. If you fill up the 22Ve with people, you won't be doing a lot of boarding, you'll just be waiting your turn to go boarding.

I would have gone smaller with a 20Ve, but I thought the bow was a little cramped for the "bow bunnies".
