That is definitely a mulit-port injection engine. The fuel rails have 2 injectors near each end on each side (8 total) with the wiring to open the valves. Looks almost identical to our 2000 Mag MPI. There should be an ID plate attached to the right rear side of the block with the engine serial no.(i.e. OL3xxxxx). You can use the serial no. on the Mercury Parts Express site to look-up part no.s for that engine.

Limited used different vinyl (softer), carpet and graphics. The seat cushions were a different shape. Other than that, not much difference.

How many people have replaced the original tower? This boat I am looking at has the one white tower with the black padding, and cant stand it. Which brand bolts up to the tige boat? What mods are necessary if any?

There are a handful of towers out there that will fit great and not look like a universal add on.

At the most, you may have to have a couple of the original holes glassed in.

I put on an Xplosion Tower on my 2000 2300V. I had to fill in and drill new back holes.

I was looking over the pictures again of when I looked at the boat, and notice that the carpet inside the boat is like a dark gray or charcoal color. But the storage compartments on each side of the engine is light beige? I would think they would put the same carpet thoughout the whole boat?

Sounds like someone put new carpet in. Are you sure this boat wasn't salvaged? That would explain the rust. Where is it located?

                    Something doesn't sound right.

They put the same carpet throughout the whole boat when it comes from the factory new.

Although, I'm going to have to replace mine this year, along with my vinyl.

Here are some pictures I took of the motor. Is this normal to have rust? Is this Throttle body Fuel Injection can anyone tell? What was the typical HP for this motor? Any input would be great. Thanks
That rust could be normal depending on how the boat was cared for and stored. I keep my boat (2000 2100v Limited) covered and when it is hot out I noticed I get a lot of sweat on the motor. The boat has a dark gray cover so when it is 85 and sunny outside, it is about 120 under the cover. The little bit of bilge water that the pump can not get seems to evaporate in the heat and condense on anything metal in the engine compartment. 8 years of that may be enough to cause some rust.

He probably would slam it into reverse all the time to get the boat to stop moving. That is the worst thing you can do to a boat. That would cause some problem to the V-Drive and the Trans. Or if he never changed the oil. the fact that the trans manufactures say we should change the trans oil every five hounded hours is total Trans fluid in a boat absorbs water. I change my fluid every year at years end and make one last lake trip before I close it all up for the winter. I do that with all my fluids including the coolant because I have a closed system.

I'm with anhaney on this. My dealer recommends an annual fluid change, unless you put more than 100 hrs on your boat in a season, then it's every 100 hours.

The manuals I've read for the Velvet Drive and the Walter V-drive recommend changing the oil every 100 hrs for the Velvet Drive and 500 hrs for the Walter V-drive or annually, whichever comes first.

Ooops, the "manuals" were operator's manuals. After looking at various sources the "recommended" change intervals range from 100-200-250-300-500-1000 hrs or "each season" which probably applies to most of us. Also, if the trans fluid gets above 190 deg or the V-drive above 200 deg it is recommended to replace the fluid.
