    2008 Tige 22Ve - break-in on engine

I should be receiving my new Tige in a couple of days. The dealer mentioned a 10hr break-in period for the boat's engine. Is that still required? My last boat had a recommended RPM limit for the first 10hrs but that was it.

I haven't owned a car where a break in period was recommended in about 20 years. Is this an overly cautious leftover from the old days when machine tolerances were less precise?

IMO, I would break it in per the dealerships suggestion.

The deal with break-ins on a boat is that you don't want to run it at the same RPM for the entire time. That said, go ahead and board. Definitely follow the dealer's suggestions.

Agree with Dom. My dealer told me the same thing, for the first 10 hoursvary the RPM, don't go wide open for long periods of time. Board, ski, have fun. Run it like you'll want to use it. Assuming you have the MP 340 it's unlikely you'll need full throttle to do just about anything you want for the first 10 hours.

I agree with Spharis. Drive it like you normally would and there will be no chance of the RPM's staying in one spot too long. Tony probably wants to change the oil at 10 hrs.

Wminnich, Did Tony give you a date? Can't wait to see it.

Yes, I believe I've met you at the sand bar and down at HQ. I absolutely love my LF Fish. I'm getting some big air on my old boat's wake.

I'm pretty excited about it. This is by far the biggest purchase I've ever made for myself. The Mrs. could really care less about the boat.

However, I can assure you the boat will be appreciate by yours truly.

I didn't order the killer stereo, but I think I got just about everything else. I don't like to go boarding with music blaring....I find it distracting. Plus, I enjoy the hum of a motor. Perhaps I'm just getting old.

I wanted a bright color, because we are out a LOT at sunset. I thought it might be a little easier to spot when the light is dim.

Saw the boat today...it had kinda has the wrong colors. I'm trying to decide if I like it.

It was supposed to be a solid tangerine side, instead of tangerine and white main panel.

The dashboard is the wrong color as well. I'm pretty sure the dashboard covers can be swapped out. But the gel coat is definitely not an option to be modified. I wonder if large amouts of white gel coats are hard to maintain???

Frustrating to see that happen . Makes me a little scared to get a new boat for fear it won't come like I want it.

White is the easiest to maintain.

I do not think you would be a jerk if you refused it because it did not come like you ordered it. You should have had some nights where you could not sleep because of the excitement.
                              Be excellent to one another.
