I was told that most boat engines are designed for a marine application, but the 6.0 is not. Who knows...

This engine has a radiator. The coolant is cooled by the heat exchanger from lake water. I was told it has aluminum heads and that if it had normal cooling like other boats the heads would warp from the instant cooling of lake water. The radiator keeps a more consistent temperature so they won't warp. This is what I have been told anyways...

Sounds logical. But you're still going to need to maintain your impeller. They last about 2 years and then you're on borrowed time. I had my dealer put a note on my file to keep track of the regular maintenance items so when I bring it in for service they keep track of when I did it last. I haven't had any down time since.

Correct, I have the same motor and I my impeller fried itself this year. I replaced it in December and it disintegrated in May.

You must have been running it dry at one time or another.... But, Vegas is hot, hot, hot.....

I have had two impellers go out 2 years to the day-on Labor Day weekend each time. I now change it annually. I also start up the boat at least once a month during the winter. This year I will change the coolant in the system. Sounds wierd for a boat though...
