    2000 21V Driver's Seat Height Adjustment

I tried adding some wood spacers under the driver's seat raising it 2 1/4" and what a difference. Since we got the boat last fall the seat seemed too low. The original Garelick fluted post is 5" tall. There are some 13" high 2 7/8" fluted posts on eBay #130128839344 ($42 w/shipping) that I think will fit. When I get it I'll cut it down to a good height after I try some different spacers and test driving. It looks like it will be an easy modification, should bolt right in. I'm guessing around 7"-9" high will do. Our seat base looks like an older Garelick Millenium 2000. I'll get some pics if there's any interest.

The seat base is flared at the top so if you cut it off the seat will not fit back on top.

One thing to try before all that would be to use a throwable cushion or two just to see how much higher you really want it.

Lee - here are pics of the base in our boat. Not quite sure where the "flare" is.

I just put a 12" Garelick on our 20V last night. I think it will work perfectly for us. Our boat came with a 6" and we were always using the bolster which added another 5 1/2". The box it came in shows that they offer a 9", 12", and 15" in the 2 7/8" fluted pedestals.

Our original seat base was 5" high and after trying different spacers we've settled on an 8" high base. I cut it off with a metal chop saw and lightly sanded the tube end. What a difference, no cushions to mess with and the seating position feels better. Looks like Garelick redesigned the base plates, the post has more length imbedded in the base plate. The old plate had one cracked web under it. The new plate matches the old floor screw pattern perfectly.

anything you need to watch out for when removing the old base like nuts falling into the bilge, etc? I will be changing mine in the next few weeks when the new vision air seat gets here
              Let it be!!!

No, the base is held to the floor with sheet metal screws. I think they are #12 x 1 1/2" SS Phillips countersunk head. I replaced a couple of them with messed up heads. Came out easy with a cordless driver. The change in seating position has been great. I'm 5' 8" and my wife is 5' 9". Any higher for us and the wind coming over the windshield was right in our face. The top of the windshield is also in a good place in our forward field of view. Also, got an arm for the rearview mirror to hang off the tower instead of the windshield. What a difference that makes in the forward field of view. Just have to look up a bit higher to see back. Next I'm going to rebuild the bimini making it longer and mounting it higher up in the tower for head clearance. My wife can sew the fabric once I get the frame together. Then I'll figure out some sort of foot rest under the dash. Probably carpeted beveled blocks of wood achored to the floor with angle aluminum.
