Farm, It will take some time to get the wake to the adjustment you need. At the end of last season, I had two friends that came aboard my boat and one of them wakesurfed. We had 1000# of bags and TAPS on 4 on the starboard side and he was able to let go of the rope but had to do a lot of pumping to stay within the pocket. I have noticed that you haven't said anything about your TAPS. What do you have that dialed to?

Surfdad will be able to help out a lot and he has mentioned something about bow weight. However, I think the only thing he said was that the face will become longer with bow weight. Anyone want to weigh into this comment?

I am able to surf without the rope with just the factory ballast, etc. Just have to do a lot of pumping and there is not enough wake to do spins, etc. (not at my current ability anyway). I was spoiled with my previous 22V, it threw a wicked wake that was easy to trick. The 160# addition in the rear of the RZ did make it less work to just "surf" but I am craving more.
The best setup was taps on 6.
Matt, I will keep you posted on the technical side of taking out factory ballast and installation of new ones, if that is what we do.
Bottom line is I need more weight for the RZ to get the desired wake than I did with the 22V and I don't understand why. But if that is what it needs, that is what it will get!! Don't mind this small inconvenience when overall I have such an awesome boat!! Woohooo!!!!
Headed to the east coast this weekend to get my surfing fix anyway!

Dialing in a boat that you just bought sucks big time but the joys and satisfaction when it is done and done by you...... PRICELESS!!!!!

Farmacist I have an '07 22Ve w/ the factory ballast (same hull as your RZ2) and I have also found that the best surf wake is w/ the taps at 6. I'm also looking to add more weight sometime but want to see if I can somehow add a surf sac to the factory ballast. Anyways, the wake that you will get w/ more weight is AMAZING! The wake behind my 22Ve w/ the front sac and starboard tank full and 6 guys on the starboard side was awesome. I just want to get a sac that can make up for the times that we dont have 1200+ pounds of extra bodies in the boat! What are you thinking of adding?
If you ain't falling.. you ain't trying hard enough..

Other than previously discussed it is yet to be determined. With help from master Lee I am sure we will find the right combo and will certainly post results.

hi im one of these new guys who picked up a 07 24 ve in march. it was bought to mainly surf with. the factory ballast system needs serious work and more weight is def needed. i fill up every tank i have including the front bow sac and then start filling another 1000 pounds of fat sacs in rear lockers. the idea is to weight the entire boat down and then add a few fellow buddies to which ever side suites your fancy. you can actually switch the wave from port to starboard mid stream. taps at 3. speed set at 10.5 -11.2 nothin compares
