Chpthril is right about the size of the tanks. In 2007 all Ve Series Tige's have the 47 gallon fuel tank.

I would try adding more in too b/c in our 22Ve and our old '95 Tige it would click off and then kind of "settle" for a second and then we could get another 5-10 gallons in.
If you ain't falling.. you ain't trying hard enough..

Sometimes filling up is a long and tedious process that requires a lot of patience. It all varies depending on how well the tank is vented. Even the routing of the rubber vent line being out of whack can cause unwanted geysering! "Is that even a word?" After many years of filling up boats, I have learned to exercise patience and use my ear to listen to the flow and keep the spewage to a minimum. Consider the boat on the trailer and the angle that it sits on the trailer. If the fill hose reaches the tank in the rear and the majority of the tank is forward of the fill hose and its up hill slightly, the air pocket will be trapped towards the front of the tank, and you will never get it full. I am not sure if boats are primarily designed for fueling while loaded on a trailer on while floating in the water.

Our boat takes forever to fill up because of it "burping" up gas.But I've noticed if I give it a second or two she'll keep taking more.I made the mistake of thinking it was full when gas came shooting out but have since learned. Its just the way my boat fuels.
---v^---v^---v^_____---v^---v^ For a second there. I was bored to death!!

OK, here is the verdict. Remember, I ran out of gas, then put in 35 gals, and geysered. Also, remember, when I fill up, my gauge shows a bit over half full, then goes to empty, and stays on empty for a while.

Well I went back to station, and I took off both fillers, and only pumped gas at halfway. It took 20 more gallons! I didn't let it come out, but the gas nozzle didn't auto turn off, but I could hear it coming up the tube, so I stopped. Plus, I just put 55 gallons in a 47 gallon tank.

I got on the lake today, and the gauge read full. We stayed out for 4 hours, solid boarding/surfing. So I figured, I should need about 24 gals or so, and my tank gauge showed 5/8 full. I went right to station, and I opened both fill caps, and filled at half flow. It took 23 gals before gas came out of the OPPOSITE side filler.

So what have I learned? It seems my boat has somewhat of an undocumented reserve, which I have basically been operating in. My gauge is fairly accurate, and I can live with it. You really have to pump gas in gingerely into these Tiges. My Tige gets real good gas mileage.

I have been boating all my life, and this is the fourth boat I have owned. So I am not a newbie. I have never had to fill a tank like this, and I don't like having to accept gas always coming down my $60+k boat. But I will work through it. There is much more to love about the boat. I am not unhappy, but it is a PITA. Someone at Tige should look at redesigning the tank or fillers, cuz the dealer, and many of you, have all communicated this is par for the course.

Anyway, I am glad it worked out. Thought I might have a major issue. I hope this thread is helpful to others who have had similar experiences.

I wonder if I have this undocumented reserve. My gauge has been okay so far.

Glad to hear that you found the problem and solved it. It sounds odd but maybe you needed to fill the tank that much the first time in order for the gauge to work properly????????? Hum, mine is stuck on Full the entire time and when it get close to empty that gauge flies down like a bat our of HE double hockey stick.... I will have to check this one out.....

Yeah, the weird thing, is that the tank geysered fuel at consistently the same place. So it def seemed like full. I mean, I have 45 hours on my boat already. I was basically only getting about 35 gals in my tank. And since I have about 8 gals of "Undocumented Reserve", that is about 27 gals in my tank, and why when I thought I was full, my gauge only read about half. Then it seemed to get down to E, and stay there, I guess when I was burning that last 8 gals or so.

Now that I get the tank full, my gauge is working pretty darn well. It didn't help that when I called my dealer, he just said, your gauge is normal, they all suck. It didn't make me think that I could possibly be not filling my tank.

I will know better the next time I do a full day. That won't be this weekend, because of INT. Man, thats one thing I don't like INT, I have to sit there and watch other people tow my kids. I want to get in my boat! ;-)

Ragboy, good luck with the INT. Your boat will be there when it returns.

I am talking with some of my friends and thought about going up to Lake Oroville sometime this summer. Will let you know so the children can all play. You have quite a few from what I remember. We have 5 boys and my friends have a few also. Might be interesting since there could be two Tige's and they have MB's.

Would be great to see you there. One of our traditions, is the fireworks show at Oroville dam. You sit on the water in your boat, watch the fireworks, and then follow a huge line of boats back to camp or marina. One of my favorite things. Anyway, feel free to PM me with details if you are thinking of coming up. Are you going to do a houseboat?

No houseboating just a Saturday trip more than likely. Is this fireworks display a weekend thing that happens only during specific times?
