Fuel tank floor panel removal

Boy, do I feel dumb! I cleared everything off the fuel tank panel - tools from working under the dash, boxes of parts, cover support. I stood with my feet on either side of the panel, grabbed the back edge of the panel, gave a good yank and almost fell on my b_tt. The panel was just sitting in there just being held in place by the carpet edges. When the rear seat is down and screwed in, that will keep the panel in place. Our old Cobalt had an aluminum trim with a dozen screws holding the panel in place.

Mine was just like Dogbert's
I pulled the seat and floor out of my 1999 2100V this week as part of my spring " fix everything thats broke" mission. I needed to run wires for my depth finder, and replace the packing. Once the rear seat was unbolted from the top, I just pryed the thing out. The old rusty screws on the fron were already broken, hence the sagging gas tank cover. When I put it together, I am going to put a new wood strip screwed to the floor, that the gas tank cover will sit on, then screw it down with some nice shiny SS screws.....
