You mean there is actually something useful in the three word post whore post!
Thank you sire. Why yes there is some good stuff in those there posts!

We might whore it up but there is some good communication going on in that thread I must say.

Now, don't expect me to play around with the engine. That is way out of my league.

However, there are aluminum plates that the bolts go through. This disperses the load over a wide area. You could do the same thing with your application. I seriously doubt that the entire transom has a different fiberglass laying process- that would entail developing two different construction procedures for a $20 part ($15 markup?). Its just not cost effective.

Also, the line about "we order boats with all the options so you dont have to worry about options" and not showing you an options list sounds like a load of bull. My reply would be "I'm ordering a boat because I want it the way I specify, not what you think I should order." I'll bet they just want the markup on "all" the options, regardless of what you want. I'd go to a different (preferrably Tigé) dealer.
I would love to do that, can you take a pic of it and post?

That is why I did mine with 2 inch stainless steal washers. I tried to find 3 inch ones but couldn't find them so I settled with the 2 inch ones.

I would say what Tige used on mine is a 2"x3" to 2"x4" plate of 3/4" aluminum stock w/ a hole drilled through. Use of thicker metal stock provides a thick backplate that wont flex, whereas a washer will.

Right, I used the same size, but remember, I am built more like Alvie. ;-) So I would like to reinforce AMAIP if I can. I think the way I have it is fine, but better safe than sorry.

Ok just kidding, but its just holes in the boat. Even though It took some courage to drill the 1st hole. After the first one the rest were easy.

Jim did you put on one your boat? Cool.

Remember my ladder on the swim step thread was about finding an easier was back on to the boat.

But this grab handle seems like a great solution!

Can you guys with small kids tell me how they reach the grab bar with their short arms?
I don't have kids but myself, wife and friends just do a push up onto the platform. Heck I can do it with my board attached after a long ride.
I have a stock 40" handle and only use it to hold onto when I am putting my board on and some rollers hit us.
I am thinking some of you brothas need to hit the gym.

My kids pull themselves up the same way the do on the side of a pool with no ladder. You swim up and put your arms on the platform and hoist yourself up.

I have kids from 2 to 16, 11, 15 and 16 yr old don't touch the handles. The 6 and 9 yr old use the handle I installed, def a big help. The 2 yr old goes on the side and grabs the tow ring on one side or the other as a handle, and then pulls herself up. My wife and I use the handle I installed up to shamu up.
