Thanks. The only real issue that I have was the outer edges of the bar are not flush with the boat surface. I circled one side of the bar to show everyone what I mean. There is a rubber washer in there to stop the water from getting into the hole along with plumbers putty.

Thanks. We like the blue but don't like the top being blue since it get very hot during the summer. But, the next boat will have that area as being white. Living and Learning

I am guessing the 36" bar made it harder to flush, since the surface is not completely flat. With the 24", and the location I chose (don't know if below or above will make a difference) it is pretty darn flush.

I am thinking about putting another rubber washer that is thicker than the one I have on there is. The thickness of the current washer is 1/8 of an inch and I am thinking about putting a 1/4 inch washer on there. That would help to seal up the small gap. I think that the silicone or chalking would also seal up the main hole but I want to see what happens over a period of time. Too many options right now and I don't even know what will happen with the current setup but I will keep everyone informed.

I think that was another problem. the smaller bar does have the chance of being flush but where I mounted my bar, it might have been flush. But, too late, I like what I have done even with those small gaps. Just need to make sure they stay closed.

those washers will also help keep your gelcoat from cracking.

Regarding the "reinforcing" of the transom for the handle: If I remember correctly, when I look at the inside of the transom (right behind the engine) the handle is bolted through. However, there are aluminum plates that the bolts go through. This disperses the load over a wide area. You could do the same thing with your application. I seriously doubt that the entire transom has a different fiberglass laying process- that would entail developing two different construction procedures for a $20 part ($15 markup?). Its just not cost effective.

Also, the line about "we order boats with all the options so you dont have to worry about options" and not showing you an options list sounds like a load of bull. My reply would be "I'm ordering a boat because I want it the way I specify, not what you think I should order." I'll bet they just want the markup on "all" the options, regardless of what you want. I'd go to a different (preferrably Tigé) dealer.

I had a very good dealer. The boat that we bought was pre-made by the dealership and we bought it right off the dealer. No special ordering of the boat for us.

I did a DIY project under the "How to" section. I have pictures there and other information that you might find interesting. http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4445
