      Would you do the one or three hole??? With both, I would want to put a plate behind the fiberglass.... What do you think???? For that price, I'm in....

        I would do the single stud on each end and use a large washer for a backing plate

          Washer size in excess of 1 inch or three???? I think the bigger the better.

            Something around three would be perfect as long as the center hole was close to the size of the stud

              Should have asked this before.... It's like going back to the hardware store after you have already been there....

              I am thinking the 36" with the largest washer that fits the stud..... Does that seem okay??????

                  36" sounds pretty huge. I was thinking 20". Love to see pictures of 36" on your boat. 3 inch washer makes sense to me, with one hole. The 3 hole ones won't look as clean after install.

                        I called Capital Watersports. They would not sell the grab bar, nor recommend installing myself. They said that from the factory the area is reinforced with fiberglass, and not just holes drilled with washers. I don't know, sounded like some of that info may not be accurate. Anyone with a factory grab bar care to see if the area is reinforced for the bar? I am thinking of ordering one, and have an experienced boat guy in my area install.

                        Also, I got some pics of my rig now, so I thought I would post.

                            So, basically they said that there is an entirely different build/spray process for a 70k boat with a $20 dollar option and the the transom will not be thick enough to install a grab handle to support a 250# dude pulling him self out of the water, but to the left and right of where the grab handle will be, are two lift eyes that will support the weight of a 4300# boat.

                              Exactly, sounds like a BS answer. I mean, maybe it is true, but I just can't see it.

                              @lee

                              Wow, my boats twin. Other than the tower, they look like brothers. Its navy, I am assuming yours is also? I just have the little extra navy accent in the tower.

                                If you use it only as a grab handle you should be alright. If you plan to pull tubers from it I personally wouldn't trust it.
