    2001 2100V limited vs 2005 20V limited

I am in the process of purchasing either a 2001 TIGE with a Mercruiser or a 2005 TIGE with the GM vortec engine. The dealer with the 2005 told me that Mercruiser is hard to deal with. I am measuring the pros and cons of each boat and would like to know if anyone has had problems with the Merc. The price difference between these boats is $7K. The 2005 does look pretty sweet but I am not sure if it is worth the extra $7K. Can anyone help me out. I am going to buy tomorrow. I test drove the 2005 today and am test driving the 2001 tomorrow. Any info would be great!!!!

Which Mercruiser engine....Black Scorpion? I have that engine and have had no troubles with it, and it's a beast...love the power and take off. I haven't driven any other engines though...take that with a grain of salt.

Best tip I can give is DON'T RUSH INTO THE PURCHASE!!! Take time and look at several boats thouroughly.

You need to give us more info or pics before we can help you much more.

Be sure to look at the overall design differences between the two years. Also check into the construction materials used in the two years. In 2004 I was very serious about a 2001 22i that was a very clean boat and the price was very reasonable. I then looked at the 2004 and discovered that there was a major change in the lack of spray pockets on the 2004. All that I saw on this site is that everyone was trying to change the spray pockets so they were not there. We eventually went with the new 2004 and ordered it totally the way we wanted it and do not regret it at all. It was a bit more but I know for a fact we are much more happy with exactly what we wanted.

I have had my Merc. engine since 1997 without any problems. Don't let that stand in the way of your decision. Get the one you want!

I've got well over 400 hrs on my 1999 with the 315 Hp Mercruiser and I've had no problems with it.

The boats are quite a bit different. Here's a link to the model specs. I think the weight listed is not quite correct, but other than that it's pretty accurate. You'll notice the 21v is quite a bit wider than the 20v, so you'll get more room.

I love my 21v. I have 4 neighbors who liked my boat so much they also bought the same boat (different year model). When Tige introduced the RZ4 this year, it's the first time I've seriously thought about getting a new boat. There are a couple of us with older Tiges (Teamallen, NICKYPOO).

you will wish you had more room in the long run so I would say 21V assuming the tower is in good condition as well as the upholstry. Those are the only 2 "potential" bad things about that boat.

I have a 21V with a 315hp Merc and this is the 2nd 350 Merc. I've had, all of them awesome. Definately would take the 21V over the 20V, just my opinion....
Get out of the way and let me drive this thing!!!!

I had a 20V and it actually had quite a bit of room. Really depends on how many people regularly go out with you. I would prefer the newer boat. Just my opinion
                  Let it be!!!

The one thing people have left off is the hull.
Tige changed their hull to work better with the Taps system
(I think they made this change between the 2003 and 2004 models, Lee would know better)
But I do know the hull is completely different between 2001 and 2005.
Make sure to check the ride in rough water, and the wake control with the taps.
Also check where the water drains out on the transom. There are a few models where the plug is off to the side, so you need to park the boat on a curb to get it to drain completely.
Also I believe that the 2001 taps is hydraulic and the 2005 are electric.
Tige, it's a way of life!

I agree with what you said here. If it were me and I was looking at the two boats I would lean more toward the newer boat because of the giant leaps in technology that have been made in the past 6-7 years in boating. The hull shape and TAPS technology would be something that I would look heavily into as the newer boat probably has a better ability to change the wake with TAPS if the hull is totally different. Also try and see what other "technological" features the newer boat has versus the older boat.

Buy the 2300V, 23V, 24V, 24Ve, or RZ4. Look until you find one, you will not regret the bigger boat. We are on our second 24' Tige and watch fellow Tige Owners go to the larger hull after owning a smaller boat. If you don't now, you will later.
All the engines will pull you around the lake fine. It's a Tige...

2100v is an amazing boat... it puts out an amazing wake w/ just taps, no extra balast, i have only had one problem with the engine and it was inexpensive to fix... 2100v all the way
